Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology recruits 5,550 students, of which 3,605 are for the standard program and 1,380 are for the English-taught program. In particular, the Vietnam - France high quality engineering program recruits new students who have been admitted to the school and have achieved an admission score equal to or higher than the standard score of the corresponding major. Students who are studying and wish to transfer from the standard program to the Vietnam - France high quality engineering program must follow the specific regulations of this program. The talent program recruits students with excellent academic performance after the second semester (first year) and meets a number of conditions according to regulations.
The school only applies a comprehensive admission method for the majority of candidates, along with the direct admission method according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the school's regulations.

The comprehensive admission method includes criteria on academic ability, other abilities, and social activities, accounting for 95-99% of the total quota.
Candidates applying for the standard program, English-taught program, advanced program, Japanese-oriented program, talented program, high-quality Vietnamese-French engineer program, and transfer program may belong to one of the following groups: With or without the results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test; graduated from a foreign high school program; graduated from a Vietnamese high school program; used an international admission certificate (SAT I, ACT, IB, A-Level,...).
Candidates for the international transfer program are those who plan to study abroad, graduate from Vietnamese high school with an average score of 8 or higher for the entire 12th grade, graduate from a foreign high school program, and use an international admission certificate (SAT I).
The combination of subjects for admission has been adjusted to suit the 2018 General Education Program. Candidates with more than one combination will take the combination with the highest admission score and choose their own combination, ensuring 2 main subjects.
English-taught and transfer programs require English entry as follows: IELTS ≥ 6.0/ TOEFL iBT ≥ 79/ TOEIC Listening - Reading ≥ 730 & Speaking - Writing ≥ 280. In case of achieving IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 60, TOEIC 4 skills (Listening-Reading 590 and Speaking-Writing 230), Duolingo 95, Linguaskill and FCE 167, PTE 42, CAE 180, you will be considered for temporary admission to the international program and must complete the additional English standard requirement within 1 semester.
For the international bachelor of engineering joint program between the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), the English entry standards are: IELTS ≥ 6.5 (writing ≥ 6.0)/ TOEFL iBT ≥ 79 (writing ≥ 21)/ PTE ≥ 58 (writing ≥ 50)/ Cambridge C1A/C2P ≥ 176 (writing ≥ 169)/ UTS College AE5: Passed.
The minimum entry score for the combined admission method is 50 points on a 100-point scale. If candidates belong to many different groups, they will be considered according to the group with the highest admission score. In case candidates have an IELTS Academic certificate ≥ 5.0/ TOEFL iBT ≥ 46/ TOEIC Listening - Reading ≥ 460 and Speaking - Writing ≥ 200, they will be converted to English subject scores in the high school graduation exam results and high school study scores for admission combinations using English.
