TPO - Through the skillful hands of young people, green watermelons have been engraved with words and pasted with images related to Tet, and are now an attractive product for people in Ha Tinh.

These days, Mr. Pham Quang Thiet (30 years old, residing in Huong Son district, Ha Tinh) "beautifies" 200 watermelons to sell to serve the market during Tet. Mr. Thiet said that during his culinary schooling, he learned about carving words on fruits, so during Tet he took the opportunity to review the profession, also to earn extra income.

Mr. Thiet uses a fruit peeler and a pen, which are "kitchen tools" to peel off the green outer layer before shaping it onto the melon rind.

Watermelon, through delicate carving and carving blades, is quickly created into eye-catching shapes to serve as Tet decorations.

“Over the past few years, the demand for carved watermelons as Tet gifts has increased, so this year I made more than 200 to serve the market. Currently, many people have ordered watermelons, so I have to work day and night to deliver them to customers on time,” said Mr. Thiet.

Uniquely created watermelons are popular to display on fruit trays and to worship ancestors.
