Northern Electricity urgently restores power after floods

The circulation after storm No. 11 (MATMO) caused widespread heavy rain, causing many localities such as Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Bac Ninh... to be severely affected by flash floods, landslides and inundation, causing many power lines and transformer stations to fail, affecting the power supply.

Faced with the complicated developments, power units have proactively suspended power supply in dangerous areas and increased on-duty forces to monitor the situation. When the water recedes and safety conditions are assured, units will urgently restore power to customers, with the goal of being as fast as possible while still ensuring absolute safety.

On the 110kV grid, at Thai Nguyen Power Company (PC Thai Nguyen), the 110kV Thinh Dan transformer station (2x63MVA) restored transformer T1 at 7:30 p.m. on October 7, 2025. Currently, the Northern Power Testing Company (ETC) continues to test transformer T2 for early operation. The 110kV Quang Son Cement station also energized and operated safely at 8:45 p.m. on the same day, contributing to stabilizing power supply to the area.

Regarding the medium voltage grid, a total of 100 lines and branches had to temporarily stop supplying electricity. By the morning of October 8, 95 lines could not be restored, concentrated in Thai Nguyen (42), Lang Son (23), Bac Ninh (21) and Cao Bang (9). Units have restored 5/100 lines.

Regarding transformer stations, there are still 1,564 stations temporarily out of power supply; of which, Thai Nguyen has 750 stations, Bac Ninh 444 stations, Lang Son 145 stations and Cao Bang 225 stations. Up to now, the whole region has restored 430/1,994 stations.

The Corporation currently manages 11,763,776 customers; of which 478,473 customers were affected by floods. As of this morning, 46,916 customers had their power restored, accounting for nearly 9.8%, while 431,557 customers still had their power temporarily cut off.

Faced with complicated developments, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) mobilized maximum human resources and materials, closely coordinated with local authorities to inspect the scene, handle incidents and restore power in the safest conditions.

With the motto "safe - fast - effective", Electricity units are implementing restoration measures, determined to soon bring electricity back to serve people's daily life and production.

Bac Ninh Power Company (PC Bac Ninh) has established a shock force of 30 officers and employees in the area south of Cau River, supporting the Yen The Power Management Team (Lang Son) - an area that suffered heavy damage. Many other power companies have also deployed internal support forces, quickly providing people and equipment to flood-affected localities. The spirit of solidarity and responsibility of Northern electricians is a solid foundation, helping the power restoration take place quickly, safely and effectively, soon bringing light and peace to people in flooded areas.
