In 2008, the International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) was held for the first time. After 13 times of organization, DIFF has become a "summer tourist magnet" and a unique cultural brand, contributing to bringing Da Nang to the international level.

At the same time, hosting the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) has created a new highlight, building the city's own brand on the film map. This is one of the few international film festivals in Vietnam, highly appreciated by experts, management agencies and international press. After 3 seasons of organization, DANAFF has gradually established its reputation, aiming to become a regional cinema destination.

Speaking at the conference summarizing DIFF 2025 and the 3rd DANAFF, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi affirmed that DIFF has become a unique cultural brand of Da Nang, while DANAFF is gradually being built to become an annual meeting point for regional cinema.

These are important activities in the process of building Da Nang into a key cultural industrial center of the country and competitive in the region, with products and services that meet international standards, promoting the export of cultural products and promoting the Da Nang brand; forming cultural products with prestigious brands, deeply participating in the global value chain.

In addition, possessing world cultural heritages, in which Hoi An ancient town is a meeting place for performing arts events with the status of a world cultural heritage urban area, contributes to the diversity of the land.

Mr. Johan Rooze, Artistic Director of Interkultur (Germany), the organizer of the International Choir Festival in Hoi An since 2011, shared that the performance space and the thoughtfulness of the host country have left an impression on the hearts of international choirs. And they choose Hoi An as an annual "meeting point" for this special art.

In the field of sports, the city has continuously made its mark with many international and regional tournaments, such as the Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival; VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship; Da Nang International Marathon; BRG Open Golf Championship, and a series of marine sports activities...

In the field of conferences, Da Nang has proven its capacity when hosting the APEC 2017 Summit Week, an event that gathered leaders of 21 member economies and thousands of international delegates. This success affirms that the city's infrastructure and services are capable of meeting the most stringent standards in terms of security, logistics, and communications.

Modern and synchronous infrastructure

Not only outstanding in the quantity and scale of events, Da Nang also possesses a modern, synchronous infrastructure system, capable of meeting the requirements of international events.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as of August 2025, Da Nang has a total of 2,365 tourist accommodation establishments with 61,898 rooms. Of which, 4-5 star and equivalent tourist accommodation establishments have 164 establishments with 31,058 rooms (accounting for 50.2% of the number of rooms); 3 star and equivalent establishments have 132 establishments with 8,556 rooms (accounting for 13.8% of the number of rooms).

Within the framework of the Exhibition and Forum on Technology, Innovation and Creativity of the HORECA Industry, taking place at the end of August 2025 in Da Nang, Chairman of the City People's Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet (now Secretary of the City Party Committee) commented that the boundary adjustment has opened up new development space for Da Nang. The city currently owns a coastline of nearly 220km, along with a diverse landscape ecosystem of mountains, hills, rivers and seas - an important foundation for the development of a green and sustainable marine economy.

“Expanding space and diversifying tourism resources will create momentum for Da Nang to become a national, regional and international tourism center. At the same time, the city will build its brand as a high-quality service tourism center, associated with high-class resort real estate, developing green tourism and regional-scale cultural heritage,” Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet emphasized.

According to statistics, Da Nang is currently in the top of the country in terms of the number of 4-5 star accommodation facilities, gathering many large hotel management brands, and international entertainment destinations, such as: Sun World Ba Na Hills, VinWonders Nam Hoi An, Hoi An Memory Island, Than Tai Mountain...

In addition, the system of golf courses, international convention centers, modern seaports and airports are outstanding advantages of Da Nang in attracting events, tourists and investors. In particular, from June 2025, the Dubai - Bangkok - Da Nang flight route has opened up great opportunities for the development of high-end tourism.

According to comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, with these advantages, Da Nang continues to affirm its position as a leading event and festival destination in Asia, among the top 50 most attractive cities in the world. In particular, Hoi An is also ranked 6th in the top 25 most attractive cities in the world in 2025. Notably, in 2024, Da Nang will lead the country in terms of provincial tourism development index (PTI).

Destination of many large-scale events

In just the first 8 months of 2025, Da Nang has continuously been the destination of many large-scale events, such as: Da Nang Friendship and Cooperation Cities Forum 2025; Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) 2025; HorecFex Vietnam 2025; Da Nang Venture and Angel Forum 2025 (DAVAS 2025); Da Nang Finance and Technology Week 2025...

These events contribute to strengthening Da Nang’s position as the region’s leading conference and event center. The city is also chosen by many units to organize large-scale art performances such as the fashion show “Where the fireworks shine - Paint my love” by VUNGOC&SON; the Legend Fest music festival…, affirming the attractiveness of Da Nang on the map of international cultural and art events.
