Quang Ninh Coal Group: Competition for creativity in labor and production

Quang Ninh Coal Youth Union has nearly 21,000 members, accounting for nearly 1/3 of the main workforce of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV). Many emulation movements responded to by the youth of the coal industry have created an increasingly enthusiastic atmosphere of emulation in labor and production, promoting the creative youth.

Nam Mau Coal Company is one of the typical units of the innovation movement in the coal industry. For many years, the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the company have regularly promoted and launched emulation movements to improve techniques and rationalize production at all construction sites and workshops, and have timely forms of commendation. The Youth Union of the unit is also not left out, regularly encouraging young union members to boldly propose new ideas with high feasibility, originating from daily operations.

Responding to the program "1 million initiatives - efforts to overcome difficulties, creativity, determination to win the Covid-19 pandemic", over the past 2 years, the youth of Nam Mau Coal have made outstanding proposals, bringing billions of dong in benefits to the unit and the Group. It can be mentioned as the initiative to dig the upper furnace to shorten the length of the furnace by 60m, without having to install an additional set of transport scrapers and shortening the time to clear the upper furnace to the XV+125 furnace area when the tunnel is constructed in very difficult conditions for traveling and transporting materials. Or the initiative to clear the upper furnace at levels -50 to +30, clear the 6-level market furnace at levels +120 to +130 to reduce coal loss... The innovations and improvements are all aimed at serving the common interest, which is to improve labor productivity in the entire unit, while improving working conditions for workers in workshops and departments.

Not only in Nam Mau Coal, the general record in many coal industry units clearly shows the competitive spirit and creativity of the Youth Union force. This is an important driving force for TKV to successfully carry out many key tasks set out today. Typical examples include promoting the application of "3-ization" (mechanization, automation, information technology), comprehensive digital transformation, occupational safety and health, environmental protection...

During the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, emulation movements and projects undertaken by young people have contributed to helping TKV successfully achieve the dual goal of maintaining production in the context of labor shortages due to the application of isolation and social distancing measures. Companies and workshops have also proactively overcome common difficulties when prices of goods increased sharply, affecting the purchase of materials for production and increasing production costs...

Entering 2023, Quang Ninh Coal Union has promoted practical movement activities, contributing to concretizing the annual working theme of TKV youth, which is "Accompanying young people in starting a business and sticking with the profession". During Youth Month 2023, in addition to participating in volunteer activities for the community, the entire union participated in implementing more than 800 projects, tasks, and youth models. Among them, there are hundreds of initiatives to improve techniques, rationalize production, along with 37 young talents being recognized. The youth of the Coal Union has promoted its pioneering role, set an example of effective production, and had practical topics and initiatives to improve equipment, tools, and rationalize production lines to meet the requirements of improving productivity, quality of coal products, saving costs, and improving working conditions...

This shows that the emulation movement for good workers and creative workers has been and is really developing strongly among the working class and young workers. The ambition and aspiration to rise up, contribute to start a business and stick with the profession of the Youth Union members are also strongly encouraged.

In 2023, choosing the annual working theme as "Accompanying young people in starting a business and sticking with the profession", Quang Ninh Coal Union at all levels continues to improve the quality of the Union organization; focus on educating traditions, ethics, and cultural lifestyle for young union members, especially the traditions of the working class in the mining area - the traditions of the coal industry; direct the Union at all levels to continue promoting the work of promoting initiatives, technical improvements, production rationalization, and application of modern technology...

In Youth Month 2023, Quang Ninh Coal Union admitted 324 new members, the whole union had 15,594 youth union members participating in volunteer activities organized by the Union. In the first quarter of 2023, Quang Ninh Coal Union mobilized youth union members to donate more than 300 units of blood; organized Green Sunday attracting more than 3,000 youth union members to participate; planted nearly 93,000 trees of all kinds...
