Kep Station Customs Operation Team completes export procedures for the first shipment

On the afternoon of June 15, Bac Ninh Customs Department held a ceremony to announce the decision to establish the Kep Station Customs Operation Team under the Bac Giang Industrial Parks Management Customs Branch (Decision No. 1290/QD-TCHQ of the General Department of Customs dated June 5, 2023).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of Bac Ninh Customs Department Tran Duc Hung said that, implementing the Prime Minister's direction on improving international transport capacity by rail, on January 19, 2023, the Ministry of Transport issued Decision No. 42/QD-BGTVT allowing Kep station to operate international transport activities.

On May 29, 2023, the General Department of Customs issued Decision No. 1164/QD-TCHQ on recognizing the location for gathering, inspecting and supervising goods at Kep station.

The Kep Station Customs Operation Team will reduce the workload at the Customs Operation Team under the Customs Branch managing Bac Giang Industrial Parks, while creating favorable conditions for the business community in carrying out customs procedures, shortening customs clearance time, facilitating movement, reducing costs and prices.

"In the immediate future, Bac Ninh Customs Department will select a number of enterprises in Lang Giang district and neighboring areas to register customs procedures at the Team and will continue to balance, arrange and deploy appropriately so that the Kep Station Customs Team can develop and grow stronger" - Director Tran Duc Hung emphasized.

It is known that Vietnam Railway Corporation has completed upgrading, renovating and repairing (phase 1) Kep station's cargo yard with an area of nearly 28,000 m2, ensuring sufficient conditions for international freight transport by rail.

The establishment of this Professional Team facilitates the import and export of goods in Bac Giang province through Kep station.

Establishing the Kep Station Customs Operation Team contributes to reducing time and transportation costs for businesses.

Deputy Director General of the General Department of Customs Hoang Viet Cuong said that in recent years, Bac Giang province has become a bright spot in attracting investment in the area, especially in reforming administrative procedures to facilitate people and businesses with many indicators ranking among the top of provinces and cities.

The launch of the Customs Operation Team will bring Kep station into the system of customs clearance locations, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality. "The establishment of the Customs Operation Team is also of great significance to the Customs sector and the locality, contributing to reducing time and transportation costs for businesses in the effort to reduce customs clearance time" - Mr. Cuong affirmed.

Mr. Hoang Viet Cuong suggested that Bac Ninh Customs Department should soon develop and implement a plan to deploy Digital Customs and Smart Customs at its branches. Therefore, it requires the efforts of Bac Ninh Customs Department, as well as the coordination and support of departments, branches and sectors to create more favorable conditions for people and businesses.

According to Vice Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee Phan The Tuan, transporting goods by rail has outstanding advantages compared to other modes of transport. This is also the first time fresh lychees have been transported by rail.

Therefore, it is recommended that the Customs Branch managing Bac Giang Industrial Parks, the Plant Quarantine Branch of Region VII... support, facilitate, and guide the processes and procedures for export enterprises to ensure compliance with quality standards, food hygiene and safety to meet export requirements, and ensure customs clearance in the shortest time.

In addition, it is recommended that Vietnam Railways Corporation closely coordinate with the Customs, Plant Quarantine, Luc Ngan District People's Committee and export enterprises to develop a separate transportation plan for lychee to arrange a suitable, smooth, reliable and effective transportation schedule.

On the same day, the Kep Station Customs Team completed export procedures for the first shipment including: 3 containers of lychee for export, weighing more than 60 tons, along with 17 containers of zinc oxide powder weighing about 360 tons.
