Changes in the revolutionary homeland of Yen My

In August, we returned to Yen My commune (Yen Mo district) - where the second Party cell, the cradle of the revolutionary movement of Ninh Binh province was established (Coi Tri Party cell), where there is a "picture" of a new, clean, beautiful, prosperous rural commune, demonstrating the strong transformation and development of a once difficult land.

Yen My commune was formerly Coi Tri village, the hometown of the excellent revolutionary soldier Ta Uyen - Secretary of Coi Tri Party Cell, later he was Secretary of the Southern Regional Party Committee. The staunch communist soldier Ta Uyen sacrificed his life in the Southern Uprising. With the revolutionary tradition of his homeland, the revolutionary movement in Yen My developed strongly.

Recalling the spirit of the revolutionary days and the changes of his homeland today, Mr. Ta Xuan Bien, 92 years old, this year nearly 70 years of Party membership, former Chairman of Yen My Commune People's Committee for more than 20 years and participating in many positions of Associations and Fatherland Front of the commune said: Before the August Revolution in 1945, the people were hungry and poor. In the boiling atmosphere of the uprising days, implementing President Ho Chi Minh 's call for the whole country to rise up in the General Uprising to seize power in August 1945, under the leadership of the Party cell, national salvation organizations, self-defense forces, the people of Yen My commune holding sticks, spears, red flags with yellow stars joined the local revolutionary army to Quang Phuc (the center of Yen Mo district at that time) to participate in the uprising to seize power.

Since gaining power, the people of Yen My have been proud of their homeland's traditions, actively working in production, developing their homeland, changing year by year, in each period. The people of Yen My have been resilient in the resistance war, diligent and creative in the renovation process.

In the process of building a commune that meets the criteria of advanced NTM, Yen My commune implemented the project "Building infrastructure for auctioning land use rights" with about 10.4 hectares with 57 households subject to land acquisition, with a total project amount of over 89 billion VND. With the unity, consensus, and high determination of the Party Committee, government and people, Yen My commune accelerated the project implementation progress according to the implementation schedule of the 2021-2024 period, basically completing the compensation and support for households whose land is included in the project. It is expected that the project's completion will contribute to solving the housing problem, stabilizing people's lives and developing the local socio-economy .

Mr. Pham Manh Toan, head of Hamlet 6, Yen My Commune, said: Hamlet 6 is the hamlet with the largest number of households whose land is being recovered, with 44 households in the project "Building infrastructure for auctioning land use rights" in Yen My Commune. Determining that the implementation of the project is the right policy of the Party and the State, however, initially there were difficulties when the hamlet had 63% of its workers working in agriculture, so when the land was recovered, people were worried that they would not have fields to cultivate, no jobs, no income...

However, when the entire political system from commune to hamlet participates, propaganda is disseminated through conferences, projects are disseminated by specialized agencies at higher levels, policies are introduced to support money, rice, jobs, investment incentives, land resources are created for people to produce food, helping people understand and agree, and receive compensation and support from the project quickly.

In 2002, Yen My commune was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and the State and in 2019 achieved the title of new rural commune. Currently, under the leadership of the Party, Yen My has achieved many great and comprehensive achievements in all areas of economic and social development, improving people's lives.

Changes in the revolutionary homeland of Yen My — The Reception and Result Delivery Department of Yen My commune is invested in a spacious and modern manner.

Comrade Ta Van Thoan, Vice Chairman of Yen My Commune People's Committee, said: Implementing the Resolution of the Yen My Commune Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, determining the economic development target in the commune is a key task to ensure the material life of the people is increasingly improved. Yen My Commune has converted the traditional farming model to an economic model of aquaculture combined with rice cultivation, organic agriculture, towards a modern greenhouse agricultural model, an economic model according to the production value chain.

The total value of grain in the first 6 months of 2023 reached over 1,885 tons, reaching 57% of the plan; the product value per hectare of cultivation reached 64.04 million VND, an increase of 1.53 million VND over the same period in 2022. In addition, the commune is interested in planning industrial and handicraft production areas, developing traditional carpentry villages, creating jobs, and aiming at tourism development.

Currently, the whole commune has 6 enterprises and 435 industrial and handicraft production establishments in operation. The value of industrial and handicraft production in the first 6 months of 2023 is estimated at 17.5 billion VND, an increase of 1.5 billion VND over the same period, reaching 65% of the yearly plan. The work of building new rural areas is maintained and developed.

In 2023, focus on reviewing the criteria according to the Government's new set of criteria for the 2021-2025 period. Accelerate the implementation of the plan to upgrade and concretize hamlet roads and alley roads, receive cement and construct nearly 1km of concrete roads for 3 hamlets; continue to complete the construction items of the kindergarten in hamlet 2; gradually implement the rural clean water project in 12 hamlet units.

Along with that, the cultural, social and educational work of the commune has achieved many high achievements in competitions, cultural exchanges, arts, sports, exams and competitions for excellent students at all levels. In the 2022-2023 school year, 100% of primary school students completed the curriculum; 100% of grade 9 students were recognized as graduating from junior high school; over 24% of junior high school students achieved excellent grades, with no poor students.

The whole commune has over 88% of cultural families. The poverty rate is 3.2%, down 0.99% compared to 2021 (according to multidimensional criteria).
