According to the latest information, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has planned for the national men's team to go to Korea for training during FIFA Days in October.
The Vietnam team is about to have a friendly match with Korea.
Notably, during his time in Korea, Quang Hai and his teammates will have a friendly match with the Korean team.
This is considered a quality test for coach Troussier and his team before heading to the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup taking place in November 2023.
In addition, it is also an opportunity for Vietnamese players to compete with the world's top stars such as Son Heung-min or Kim Min-jae.
Previously, during FIFA Days in September, the red team also had two friendly matches with Australia and Palestine.
According to the results of the second qualifying round draw for the 2026 World Cup held on July 27, the Vietnamese team is in Group F with Iraq, the Philippines and the winner of the match between Indonesia/Brunei.
This is considered a suitable group and coach Troussier and his team are completely capable of getting a ticket to continue.
At this stage, 36 teams are divided into 9 groups (4 teams each) to compete in a double round robin (home and away) and calculate ranking points.
The top two teams in each group (18 teams) will advance to the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. At the same time, these teams will also have tickets to participate in the 2027 Asian Cup.
In the third qualifying round, 18 teams are divided equally into 3 groups (6 teams each) and play two matches (home and away) to calculate points.
The top two teams in each group (6 teams) will qualify for the 2026 World Cup. While the third and fourth-placed teams will have to play the Asian play-off.
The 6 teams participating in the Asian play-off round are divided into 2 groups (3 teams each) and will compete in a round-robin format at the venue.
The two group winners will qualify for the 2026 World Cup, while the two runners-up will face off for a spot in the intercontinental play-off.
