After 2 matches in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup Final Qualifiers, the Vietnamese team is ranked second with 3 points after 1 win and 1 draw, 3 points behind the top team Malaysia, equal on points with Laos but ranked higher due to better goal difference.
Two consecutive matches against Nepal will be important for the Vietnamese team in maintaining hopes of competing for a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup finals.
To prepare for these two matches, coach Kim Sang-sik called up eight young faces from the U23 team that just won the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and passed the 2026 Asian U23 Qualifiers, including: Tran Trung Kien, Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Hieu Minh, Nguyen Xuan Bac, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Phi Hoang, Nguyen Nhat Minh and Nguyen Dinh Bac.
The presence of this group of young players promises to bring a breath of fresh air and more tactical options to the team.
In addition, the Vietnamese team also continues to maintain its core force with many veterans with extensive international competition experience such as Do Duy Manh, Bui Tien Dung, Pham Xuan Manh, Pham Tuan Hai, Nguyen Hai Long, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Quang Hai, Cao Pentdant Quang Vinh, Nguyen Tien Linh and other familiar pillars.
The combination of youth and experience is expected to create depth and balance for the squad, ensuring both succession and stability in gameplay.
This is also the team's long-term orientation in the process of establishing a new generation squad to aim for important goals ahead.
According to plan, the Vietnamese team will gather again on October 4 in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for two matches against Nepal.
The first leg will take place at Go Dau Stadium on October 9, while the second leg will be held at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC) on October 14.
The organizers have also officially announced the ticket sales plan for the two matches. Tickets have two denominations of 200,000 VND and 400,000 VND, released exclusively online on the OneU application (formerly VinID) from September 29 to October 7 in two phases, and are also available for direct sale at the ticket counters of Go Dau and Thong Nhat stadiums from October 4.
Tickets are delivered via VietnamPost or received at post offices as prescribed.
