Reporting to the working group, the leader of Kim Dong commune said that in order to respond to storm No. 10, the locality has proactively deployed storm prevention and control measures, ensuring information and propaganda throughout the loudspeaker system. The evacuation work has been carried out drastically: 160 huts with 240 workers have moved safely to shore; 90 vehicles and 200 crew members have anchored at the wharf. In particular, the commune has notified students to stay home from school and organized military , police, border guards, and medical forces to be on duty 24/24.
However, due to the complicated developments of the storm, heavy rain, strong winds combined with high tides flooded about 29 hectares of crops, some aquaculture areas were affected. The storm also broke 30 trees, broke 2 high-voltage electric poles, 2 structures (1 house, 1 educational facility) had their roofs blown off, but there were no human casualties.
To meet the requirements of natural disaster prevention, the leaders of Kim Dong Commune People's Committee proposed that the province build dike watchtowers and upgrade means of transport to serve the work of storm prevention and control inspection.
Speaking at the meeting, comrade Mai Van Tuat, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee acknowledged and commended the proactiveness of Kim Dong commune, thereby contributing to minimizing the impact caused by the storm. In the face of the complicated developments of the storm, he requested the commune to continue to lead and direct the response to the storm and deploy measures to overcome the consequences after the storm, focusing on flood prevention and control, ensuring traffic safety, power grid safety, especially in residential areas affected after the storm made landfall. Thoroughly grasp and implement the "4 on-site" motto, coordinate with the police, army, border guards, militia and people's forces to quickly overcome and minimize the damage caused by the storm.
Acknowledging the difficulties and recommendations of the commune regarding the infrastructure for disaster prevention and control, he requested that the commune should proactively overcome them in the immediate future. The province will soon have a plan to invest in building a dike guard post along the entire route in the area. Regarding means of transport, priority will be given to supporting upgrading for communes with complex terrain characteristics, especially the coastal communes such as Kim Dong.
Next, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the Delegation inspected the actual flood and storm prevention work at CT11 sluice on Binh Minh 3 dike, which is a key point in flood and storm prevention work in Kim Dong commune.
