More than 45% of OCOP products achieve 4 stars
Bao Minh Confectionery Joint Stock Company is a company with more than 20 OCOP products certified by Hanoi city, of which 6 products have achieved 4 stars, with potential for 5 stars.
General Director of Bao Minh Confectionery Joint Stock Company Ngo Thi Tinh said that from a family-scale production facility, Bao Minh now has 2 modern factories with dozens of typical product lines, such as: Pia cake, green rice cake, ham cake, moon cake; traditional jams and candies... Participating in the OCOP Program is a step to affirm the quality, the company's commitment to building products with regional identity, but meeting modern standards, suitable for the needs of the domestic and international markets.
Meanwhile, from familiar vegetables, tubers and fruits, Song Hong Agricultural Service Cooperative (Thien Loc commune) has produced straws that have been recognized by the Hanoi People's Committee as a potential 5-star OCOP product.
Director of the Song Hong Agricultural Service Cooperative Le Van Tam said that tubers such as carrots, sweet potatoes, radishes, green, yellow, purple vegetables have been combined with crushed rice flour to create food straws, ensuring that they do not contain heavy metal residues, pesticides, growth stimulants, etc. This is a useful product, ensuring the health of consumers, an alternative to plastic straws, helping to solve the problem of disposable plastic waste that is quite commonly used in Vietnam.
According to the Hanoi City New Rural Development Program Coordination Office, from 2019 to present, Hanoi has 3,463 OCOP products (accounting for 21% of the country), including 9 5-star products, 19 potential 5-star products, 1,576 4-star products and 1,859 3-star products. In the flow of OCOP products in the capital, OCOP products of Bao Minh Confectionery Joint Stock Company or Song Hong Agricultural Service Cooperative are not only present in the national distribution system, but also appear in many export markets, contributing to bringing the Hanoi OCOP brand to international level... Developing OCOP products also brings high economic benefits to production households, cooperatives, enterprises, creating many jobs for workers.
Also according to the Office of Coordination of the New Rural Development Program of Hanoi city, out of 3,463 OCOP products of the city (accounting for 45.5%, equivalent to 1,576 products) are 4-star OCOP products, this is a great potential for Hanoi to support and develop into 5-star products, affirming its position and bringing higher efficiency.
Support "upgrading" the product
According to the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, from now until the end of 2025, the unit will continue to advise the city to organize the assessment and select typical products to register for national assessment (5-star OCOP). Based on the most quintessential OCOP products, Hanoi will build a set of typical OCOP products of the Capital to serve trade promotion and foreign affairs.
To realize the goal of developing more 5-star OCOP products, the city has been implementing many synchronous solutions to support OCOP entities. According to Ngo Van Ngon, Deputy Chief of Office in charge of the Office of Coordination of the Hanoi New Rural Development Program, first of all, the city supports training, coaching on management skills, brand building, and traceability for cooperatives, enterprises, and production households. At the same time, Hanoi focuses on applying science and technology, encouraging production according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP, organic standards, etc. This is the foundation to help products ensure food safety and meet the strict requirements of the international market.
One of the important steps is the city's support for connecting consumption. Through fairs, promotional weeks, and e-commerce platforms, many Hanoi OCOP products have reached large markets, creating prestige with consumers. Brands such as Bat Trang ceramics, Van Phuc silk, Phu Vinh bamboo and rattan weaving... are not only famous domestically, but also have export opportunities. In particular, Hanoi identifies each OCOP product as not only a commodity, but also a crystallization of culture, intelligence and the quintessence of craft villages. Therefore, upgrading 5-star OCOP products is also to enhance cultural values and promote the image of the thousand-year-old capital.
With the support and guidance from the government and the creative efforts of the subjects, Hanoi expects to have more 5-star OCOP products, becoming the pride of the capital's agriculture and craft villages, contributing to promoting the development of the rural economy.
