Promoting innovative startups associated with developing OCOP products

BAC NINH - On September 30, the Department of Science and Technology held a scientific workshop on "Innovative start-up associated with the development of OCOP products, increasing the value of goods to promote socio-economic development in Bac Ninh province". Attending were representatives of departments, branches, enterprises, cooperatives, OCOP product owners of the province and scientists inside and outside the province.

Comrade Nguyen Phuc Thuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, commented that the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program is affirming its value in promoting local advantages, enhancing product brands, and contributing to building sustainable new rural areas. Bac Ninh province currently has 773 OCOP products, including 1 5-star OCOP product (Luc Ngan litchi), 114 4-star OCOP products and 658 3-star products.

For OCOP products to truly build a brand and have long-term competitiveness, the innovation factor needs to be placed at the center of development strategies. In particular, the innovation and start-up movement is spreading strongly, attracting young people, opening up many opportunities to put creative ideas into practice, associated with typical and traditional products of the province.

The workshop received 32 comments, focusing on assessing the current status of agricultural and OCOP product production in the locality; analyzing the advantages and difficulties in mechanisms and policies; sharing experiences in applying science and technology to production, building organic and circular agricultural models, increasing the value of OCOP products and key products; proposing support mechanisms and solutions to promote innovative startups associated with this group of products...

The workshop is an event within the framework of the Bac Ninh Province Innovation and Startup Festival 2025 (Techfest BacNinh 2025). Thereby, it suggests many ideas and solutions to effectively exploit the OCOP product brand, the local key product; gradually creating an environment to promote startup activities, especially startups in the agricultural sector.
