The competition is part of the Ho Chi Minh City Fintech Road 2025 event co-organized by the University of Economics and Law (VNU-HCM), with the theme "Are you an innovator? We're your investors". The event creates a creative academic forum where students present ideas, business models and digital solutions in the financial sector, focusing on the value triangle: startup - technology - economy.
From May to September 2025, hundreds of teams competed in three rounds, under the evaluation of a jury consisting of leading experts, representatives of management agencies, businesses and scientists from many major universities across the country.
In particular, the URAx group of the University of Technology impressed with URA-xLaw, a digital legal assistant capable of processing, analyzing and updating legal documents in the finance and banking sector quickly, transparently and accurately. The solution supports the management and legal departments at banks to save time searching, while minimizing legal risks in the decision-making process.
“From the beginning, we determined that the core goal of URA-xLaw was to build a specialized AI legal assistant for the banking and finance industry, turning the 'forest' of complex documents from the State Bank into quick, accurate, transparent answers with citations. The biggest difficulty is that legal data is long, overlapping and constantly changing. But when overcome, it becomes a competitive advantage,” said Thien Long, representative of the URAx team.
URA-xLaw is developed based on the research foundation of the URA group led by Associate Professor, Dr. Quan Thanh Tho, Head of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Technology, with many works in the field of Vietnamese natural language processing.
“This project has an advanced technology platform, solves a clear socio-economic problem, and has a feasible development roadmap. URA-xLaw can become a typical RegTech product of Vietnam,” Associate Professor, Dr. Quan Thanh Tho shared.
In the future, the group of students hopes to expand the platform to other highly compliant legal fields such as securities, insurance, commercial enterprises or bidding contracts, aiming to become a comprehensive LegalTech platform for Vietnam.
