The 2,000 billion bridge project connecting Hai Phong and Quang Ninh is rushing to the finish line.

Being present at the construction site of the Ben Rung Bridge Investment Project across the Da Bac River connecting Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City with Quang Yen Town, Quang Ninh Province, in the first days of 2024, I saw the enthusiastic and excited working atmosphere. More than 300 workers, engineers, and experts worked through the New Year with the determination to complete this important project in the first quarter of 2024.

According to information from the investor, the Hai Phong Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the Ben Rung Bridge Construction Investment Project has a total investment capital of more than 1,940 billion VND from the Central budget, Hai Phong City budget and Quang Ninh province budget.

The project contractor is the Trung Chinh - Phuong Thanh - Cau 3 Thang Long - Freyssinet Vietnam - Khang Nguyen Joint Venture. The construction contract value is 1,775 billion VND (excluding contingencies). The project started on May 13, 2022. The contract implementation period is 24 months.

The 2,000 billion VND bridge across the Da Bac River connecting Hai Phong with Quang Ninh is about to reach its finish line.

More than 1 month after the groundbreaking, on June 15, 2022, the contractor mobilized machinery, equipment and organized the construction. To date, the contractor has completed all 380/380 bored piles, 35/39 abutments and pillars and is constructing the remaining 4 pillars, bridge girders and cable-stayed cables. The estimated volume of work according to the contract value is more than 85%.

With the construction progress and remaining work volume, it is expected that in April 2024, the Ben Rung Bridge Construction Investment Project can be technically opened to traffic as requested by the leaders of Hai Phong City People's Committee and Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee.

It is known that Quang Ninh province allocated 258 billion VND from the budget to invest in the Ben Rung bridge approach project in the province with a length of 2.2 km to connect Ben Rung bridge with provincial road 338 in Quang Yen town. The project will be completed together with Ben Rung bridge.
