On the evening of September 3 (local time), the capital city of Prague, the Czech Republic, became more vibrant when the ASEAN+3 Film Festival officially opened at the Prague City Library, gathering the participation of the cinema industries of ASEAN countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and 3 partners: China, Japan and South Korea.
According to a VNA reporter in Prague, the presence of representatives of the Czech Ministry of Culture, foreign embassies and hundreds of cinema lovers created an emotional cultural exchange space.
This year's film festival is a journey through many vivid stories and images, introducing the beauty, cultural diversity, customs and people of Asia to international friends.
Each film is a window into a world of its own, where emotion, history, and art blend to tell stories that are both familiar and unique.

Opening the program is the short animated film “Love, Dad” (2021) by director Diana Cam Van Nguyen (Czech of Vietnamese origin).
The work depicts the complex relationship between father and daughter, starting with old letters the father sent to his daughter when she was a child.
These letters not only awaken memories, but also evoke nostalgia, love and the desire to reconnect with loved ones. The film combines real footage and sophisticated animation, creating a unique artistic language, making the audience feel both the closeness and distance in family relationships.
Chairwoman of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Committee in Prague, Indonesian Ambassador Rina P. Soemarno, stressed that cinema is “a great medium for ASEAN countries to exchange culture with the Czech Republic - the heart of Europe.”
Meanwhile, Czech Deputy Minister of Culture David Kaspar expressed gratitude for the cooperation of ASEAN+3 countries, affirming that “culture connects people even in turbulent times.”
Within the framework of the event, on September 6, Vietnam Film Week will take place, as part of a series of activities celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Czech diplomatic relations.
Vietnam participated with two outstanding works: “Peach, Pho and Piano” which recreates Hanoi in the winter of 1946, interwoven with love, patriotism and silent sacrifice, and “Summer School” (Letní škola, 2001), a film depicting the life of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, bringing empathy across cultural borders.
The ASEAN+3 Film Festival in Prague is not only an opportunity to enjoy cinematic art but also a space for cultural exchange, where emotions and art connect people, enriching the cultural heart of Europe and strengthening friendship between Asian countries and the world./.
