The book series includes four works: Stories about General Nguyen Chi Thanh; Nguyen Chi Thanh: Perspectives from posterity; Letters from North to South and Journey for Peace of Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh .
With many genres from memories, letters to memoirs, the book series depicts the portraits of two generals, father and son, in the extension of their ideals of dedication. One is a general who is “brave, loyal, close to the people, for the people” in the midst of the war of resistance; the other continues that path in the context of integration, laying the foundation for Vietnam’s peacekeeping force at the United Nations.

Major General Hoang Kim Phung, former Director of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, shared: “Senior General Nguyen Chi Vinh is the “chief architect” of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force. Decisive and courageous, he led the army into a new era, protecting the Fatherland early, from afar, by peaceful measures in peacetime.”
Not only stopping at historical documents, the book series also brings a new, close and emotional way of telling stories. Journalist Luong Bich Ngoc, representative of the group of authors, shared: “The greatest value of this book series is the simple, easy-to-understand way of telling stories, accessible to today's youth. Many stories about General Nguyen Chi Thanh, which were considered legendary, are now decoded with a simple, everyday pen.”
She also expressed her hope that one day, these stories will become a feature film. Like the recent film Red Rain that moved viewers, if cinema can recreate the life and heart of the General, history will come to young people in a different way, more accessible, more profound...

At the seminar, the speakers all agreed that the meeting point between the two generations was the strategic thinking associated with the people. If General Nguyen Chi Thanh initiated the “Gio Dai Phong” movement, building cooperatives as a solid rear base, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh inherited the principle of “people’s war” when sending peacekeeping forces to the world . In all circumstances, both put the people at the root, from poor rural farmers to the people of South Sudan and the Central African Republic.
According to journalist Luong Bich Ngoc: “Both generals have a special quality, knowing how to listen, respect and accompany the people. In General Nguyen Chi Thanh, it is the attachment to farmers; and in Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, it is the listening to teammates, journalists, intellectuals, to spread the message of peace together.”
In particular, all royalties from the two books Letters from the North to the South and Nguyen Chi Thanh: Perspectives from posterity were given to the "Forever 20" Club, as a gesture of gratitude and to continue the spirit of dedication.
The discussion was therefore not only an occasion for a book launch, but also a meeting between memory and the present. Two generations of generals, two historical periods have left behind a consistent “stream”: for the people, for the country, and for peace.
