The Civil Aviation Authority said it will continue to coordinate with airlines to monitor and evaluate market demand in order to plan to increase flights and promptly meet passenger travel needs during the holidays.

Responding to VTC News on the morning of August 27, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority Dinh Viet Thang said that this year, workers across the country have 4 days off, but the number of passengers booking air travel during this time is low. The total number of flights that airlines plan to operate during the peak period of September 2 (from August 31 to September 5) is more than 5,300 flights with a total of 1.06 million seats, an increase of about 20% compared to the normal period and a slight decrease (3%) compared to the same period in 2022.

“Because the number of customers booking tickets is still very low and the seat vacancy rate is high, some airlines and routes have reduced ticket prices for the September 2 holiday. Some routes do not have much difference compared to the peak summer period, 30% lower than the selling price in early August. Currently, all Vietnamese airlines are selling domestic air tickets according to the regulated price range,” Mr. Thang said.
