Kun Marathon attracts 2,000 children

VnExpressVnExpress02/03/2024

Before dawn, many parents and young runners had already flocked to the Zoo and Botanical Gardens. The children were excited, gathering together to discuss the race. This year, Kun Marathon welcomed children born in 2018 for the first time. They were still shy about participating in a big event, clinging to their parents.

Ms. Ngan Ha, mother of Thien Kim (6 years old), Binh Thanh district, said that last year she happened to pass by the Kun Marathon event. She went home to learn more and found that this is a beneficial activity for children's development. This year, when Thien Kim was old enough to run, she registered her and invited her neighbors to join. "The event is very beneficial because it gives children the opportunity to exercise and have fun. Last year, when I passed by, I saw the extremely exciting atmosphere," Ms. Ha shared.

Two sisters, Vo Hoang Kim Ngan, 8, and Vo Hoang Kim Oanh, 7, were brought to the event early in the morning by their father, Tong Hoang Quan. This was the first time the two families participated in the Kun Marathon after the tournament in Nha Trang in 2023. Ngan and Oanh wore Ao Ba Ba. Quan said the costumes were inspired by farmers in the West. "I want my two children to exercise. Now they can complete 5km," Quan said.

Volunteers were present at the event from 4am, divided into several groups. Of these, more than 20 people were in charge of receiving children and leading them to the stage area inside the Zoo. Parents stood outside the security fence to observe.
