220 kV Nam Sum - Nong Cong line is technically completed

The investor-level acceptance council - National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) held a Council meeting on the progress of energizing the 220 kV Nam Sum - Nong Cong transmission line project (part in Vietnam territory).

The 220 kV Nam Sum - Nong Cong transmission line project, invested by EVNNPT and managed by the Northern Power Project Management Board (NPMB), was started in December 2021.

The project has a scale of 2 circuits, nearly 130 km long with 299 pole positions, 99 anchorages, passing through Que Phong district, Quy Chau district ( Nghe An province), Nhu Xuan district, Nhu Thanh district, Nong Cong (Thanh Hoa province).

The investor acceptance council agreed that the project is eligible for energization.

The section passing through Nghe An province is 77.31 km long, including 174 column foundation locations. The section passing through Thanh Hoa province is 52.64 km long, including 125 column foundation locations. The entire route has up to 234 column foundation locations affected by forests.

This is an urgent project, invested and built with the aim of importing electricity from the Nam Sum Hydropower Plant cluster (Laos) to Vietnam to meet the growing demand for load of the Northern region's power system. At the same time, it concretizes the commitment between the Party and Government of Vietnam and Laos in strengthening energy cooperation.

Up to now, the entire foundation site has been handed over.

The members of the Acceptance Council said that the project was completed thanks to the close direction and management of the State Steering Committee on key energy projects, the leaders of EVN and EVNNPT. Along with that, there were great efforts of NPMB and the units participating in the project.

At the meeting, council members agreed that the project was eligible for energization, but also pointed out a number of shortcomings that needed to be addressed before energization.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tan, Deputy General Director of EVNNPT, Chairman of the Investor-level Acceptance Council, acknowledged and highly appreciated NPMB and the units participating in the project for their great efforts in overcoming many difficulties and challenges in site clearance, difficult construction terrain conditions, erratic weather conditions, etc. However, with the support of the Government, ministries, branches, EVN and local authorities where the power line passes through, the project has now been basically completed.

The project has been constructed according to design, ensuring technical requirements and meeting the conditions for technical energization.

The investor-level acceptance council approves the completion of items related to the power line. The investor-level acceptance council assigns the facility acceptance council to review the remaining contents and carry out related procedures to energize according to regulations.
