Although they played evenly in the first set, Coach Tran Dinh Tien's students still lost by a narrow margin 29/31 after a thrilling score chase. However, that misstep became the catalyst for the red-shirt boys to play explosively in the rest of the match and create a spectacular comeback.

In game 2, the Vietnamese volleyball team played cohesively, taking advantage of scoring opportunities to win 25/22, equalizing the score to 1-1. From then on, the Vietnamese boys continued their momentum to win games 3 and 4. Game 3 witnessed absolute dominance when the Vietnamese volleyball team won 25/16.
