In particular, during the period from 8am to 11am, the aircraft receiving capacity at Noi Bai airport is adjusted to 5 flights/hour.

Up to now, a total of 17 flights have had to wait due to weather effects in the control area of Hanoi Area Control Center (ACC Hanoi), Approach Control Center (APP Noi Bai); 1 flight had to divert to an alternate airport. As soon as the weather conditions improved, the flights landed safely one after another, with no more flights having to wait.

Previously, when there was information about adverse weather developments, the Air Traffic Management Center (Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation - VATM) proactively coordinated with relevant agencies to organize a CDM coordination meeting, agreeing on a plan to regulate air traffic to and from Noi Bai airport.

Based on meteorological information and actual situation, the unit promptly applied measures to restrict aircraft flow, adjust the order and frequency of reception, ensuring safe, orderly and effective flight operations in bad weather conditions.

During the night and morning of October 7, Noi Bai International Airport experienced prolonged heavy thunderstorms, visibility dropped to less than 1 km, wind gusts reached level 7, and wind shear appeared in the runway area.

The complex weather conditions have directly affected flight operations, forcing the management agency to apply measures to regulate air traffic, reducing the aircraft reception capacity to 10-13 flights/hour, at times only 5 flights/hour to ensure absolute safety for flight operations.

VATM is currently continuing to direct its subordinate units to strengthen weather monitoring, closely monitor and continuously update meteorological observation and forecast bulletins, especially short-term bulletins, to proactively deploy timely response measures. Air traffic control is carried out flexibly, on the basis of ensuring "safety - harmony - efficiency", maintaining stable and smooth flight operations in all weather conditions.
