Environmental issues in the Go Da Trang Industrial Cluster, An Nhon Ward, Gia Lai Province are becoming a hot topic and a source of concern for ward voters in voter meetings and Party cell meetings. Along branch road 2 (Nguyen Nhac Street), in front of processing and production facilities such as: Thuan Phat Packaging Factory, Thai Hang Incense Powder Facility, Bay Ha Copper and Aluminum Casting Facility, Phuc Yen Private Enterprise Iron Rolling Workshop, etc., the pollution situation is serious.
Thousands of beer cans, water coolers, plastic bottles, old bicycles…, anything that can be reused are collected by businesses, piled up along the sidewalks; even the scrap is piled all over the road, leaving only a small path for cars to enter and exit. Many sections of the road are damaged, water from the scrap seeps out, mixes with rainwater to form black puddles, emitting a strong stench.
According to people's complaints, in addition to the direct stench from thousands of tons of scrap, at night, people have to endure the stench coming straight into their homes because these facilities are smelting aluminum, tin, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Ch. (77 years old), Ba Canh residential group, An Nhon ward, expressed his indignation: “In the summer, every night until dawn, aluminum and tin smelting facilities and incense powder making facilities start operating. Black smoke covers the sky, and the stench wafts straight into the house. During the monsoon season, the smoke rises, and during the southerly monsoon season, it blows down. We, the people, cannot sleep well."
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Th., a resident nearby, during the day there is noise from aluminum, copper, and iron factories. The roads are dirty and full of scrap, and the stench hits your nose every time you pass by these waste processing facilities.
Vice Chairman of An Nhon Ward People's Committee - Mr. To Hoa Nha said: Go Da Trang Industrial Cluster was formed very early, so the investment in technical infrastructure is not synchronized such as traffic system, wastewater collection system, green tree system... leading to unreasonable planning of industrial clusters. The production process of enterprises and production facilities is still manual and backward.
According to the Ward Vice Chairman, after more than 24 years of operation, many businesses and production facilities have continuously expanded their production scale, and a number of new industries have emerged such as: scrap purchasing, plastic recycling, plastic grinding... encroaching on the roadside to collect scrap, creating a lot of emissions and waste in production, causing serious environmental pollution in the industrial cluster and neighboring areas.

The People's Committee of An Nhon Ward has also reported and confirmed this pollution situation. Specifically, the Go Da Trang Industrial Park has 3 main sources of pollution: water pollution, solid waste pollution, air pollution, and odor. This greatly affects people's lives. The Go Da Trang Industrial Park is located close to a residential area, near the center of Dap Da Ward (now An Nhon Ward).
The Vice Chairman of the Ward People's Committee admitted: Go Da Trang Industrial Park, after a long period of operation, is now located in a densely populated residential area, near the ward center, and is one of the hot spots of environmental pollution in An Nhon town. Therefore, it is no longer suitable for the urban structure and it is necessary to develop a roadmap to relocate businesses and production facilities out of the residential area.
In May 2025, the People's Committee of Binh Dinh Province (old) issued a decision approving the investment policy of the Project to relocate enterprises and production facilities in the Go Da Trang Industrial Cluster. Accordingly, the province decided to relocate 48 enterprises and production and business facilities in the Go Da Trang Industrial Cluster. At the same time, compensation and support according to current regulations with a total compensation cost of more than 152 billion VND. Investment capital comes from land use fees collected from land plots invested and called for investment by the locality and other legal capital sources.
