SJC gold bar price increased unexpectedly, reaching a new peak

(NLDO) - The price of SJC gold bars traded this morning, August 9, is far above the 124 million VND/tael mark and widens the gap with the world gold price.

SJC gold bar price surpasses historical peak

On the morning of September 9, Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) listed the buying price of SJC gold bars at 123.2 million VND/tael and the selling price at 124.4 million VND/tael - an increase of 400,000 VND compared to yesterday morning, far exceeding the historical peak in April 2025.

Some other gold companies such as PNJ, DOJI , Mi Hong also traded SJC gold bar prices at new peaks.

Similarly, the price of 99.99 gold rings and jewelry gold of all kinds was traded at 117.3 million VND/tael for buying and 119.9 million VND/tael for selling - an increase of 600,000 VND compared to yesterday morning.

An investor boasted of buying more than 1 tael of SJC gold bars after lining up twice.

In the free market, the price of SJC gold bars this morning also caused surprise. Some stores in Ho Chi Minh City quoted the price of SJC gold bars at 123.5 million VND/tael for buying, 124.5 million VND/tael for selling - higher than the big gold companies.

This development attracted attention because about a week ago, the price of SJC gold bars traded freely was several hundred thousand VND per tael lower than the price at businesses and banks.

Surprised because the price of SJC gold bars increased too quickly

Domestic gold prices not only increased sharply but also increased faster than world gold prices, surprising many people.

According to the reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, many people are still waiting for the domestic gold price to cool down to narrow the gap with the world gold price. However, the price of SJC gold bars is increasing rapidly, decreasing slowly compared to the world price.

"I planned to buy about 5 taels of SJC gold bars to save. But in just a few days, the gold price has skyrocketed to 124.4 million VND/tael" - Mr. Hoang Thuan (residing in Phuoc Binh ward, Ho Chi Minh City) wondered.

According to analysts, the domestic gold price increased due to the influence of the world gold price. In the international market, the price of this precious metal was traded at 3,399 USD/ounce, about 15 USD/ounce higher than the previous session.

Gold prices on the international market increased sharply after the news that the US might impose import tax on 1 kg gold bars - a move that shocked the industry. However, many investors are still waiting for official information. Gold prices are fluctuating strongly during this period.

Currently, the world gold price converted according to the listed exchange rate is about 108 million VND/tael - lower than SJC gold bars by over 16 million VND/tael.
