On the morning of September 16, oil prices continued to increase. At the end of the trading session at dawn today (Vietnam time), Brent oil increased by 0.45 USD/barrel, equivalent to 0.67%, to 67.44 USD/barrel; WTI oil increased by 0.61 USD/barrel, equivalent to 0.97%, to 63.3 USD/barrel.
According to Reuters, the Ukrainian drone attack on a Russian oil refinery, which raised concerns about disruptions to crude and fuel exports from Russia, pushed oil prices up. In addition, US President Donald Trump's pressure on NATO countries to stop buying oil from Russia also supported oil prices. Analysts said that the growing pressure from the US on oil buyers from Russia is putting pressure on oil prices.

The largest oil export port of Primorsk and the Kirishi oil refinery - one of the two largest oil refineries in Russia, were both attacked by Ukraine, playing an important role in the production and export of oil in Russia. Currently, the port of Primorsk has a capacity of pumping about 1 million barrels of crude oil per day, is an important oil export center and the largest port in Western Russia. Similarly, the Kirishi oil refinery also processes about 17.7 million tons of crude oil per year, accounting for 6.4% of the total oil production of the whole country of Russia.
However, news from the Asian market is helping to curb oil prices' rise. That is weak economic data from China. China's economy continued to slow in August as a series of key data missed expectations, mainly due to weak domestic demand and Beijing's campaign against overcapacity that curbed industrial output. Retail sales in August were lower than July and lower than analysts' forecasts, according to China's National Bureau of Statistics, while industrial output growth also slowed to 5.2%, the weakest in more than a year and down from 5.7% in July.
Domestically, the prices of finished petroleum products updated from the Singapore market this morning showed a slight increase. It is forecasted that in the price adjustment session on Thursday afternoon (September 18), gasoline prices will tend to increase, while diesel prices will tend to decrease slightly or remain unchanged./.
