City leaders inspect and urge response work to storm No. 10

DNO - On the afternoon of September 27, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh inspected the work of preventing and fighting storm No. 10 in some key areas in the localities.

Also attending were Director of the Department of Construction Nguyen Ha Nam and representatives of relevant departments, branches and localities.

At Thuan Phuoc pumping station, after directly inspecting the preparation and operation situation, the Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested the Department of Construction to direct the arrangement of adequate human resources on duty 24/24 hours, especially during the hours when heavy rain is forecast.

At the same time, it is necessary to operate the pump units at maximum capacity to ensure quick drainage and minimize the risk of flooding in Hai Chau ward and neighboring areas.

During the inspection at the Nam My dam area (Hai Van ward), the Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee acknowledged the efforts of the units in the work of inspection, reinforcement and preparation of materials and equipment at key points. He requested the relevant units to strictly implement plans to ensure dam safety; especially pay attention to warning and evacuation of people downstream in case of emergency.

Local authorities need to review households living near areas at risk of deep flooding and landslides; proactively plan evacuations, and not be passive when the storm hits.

Inspecting the Me Suot Street area (Hoa Khanh Ward), Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh requested the locality to proactively evacuate residents living along canals and low-lying areas to safe places. Ensure adequate supplies of necessities, food, and food reserves to serve people during the evacuation period.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that, in the face of the complicated developments of storm No. 10, departments, branches and localities need to urgently deploy response plans in accordance with the direction of the city and the Central Government.

Authorities need to be ready to respond and coordinate to handle arising situations, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.

Currently, localities across the city are actively implementing prevention plans, fully preparing facilities and on-site forces to proactively respond to all situations of storm No. 10.
