Tuong Mai Ward Police, Hanoi promptly rescue A male student before being put on a plane to Ho Chi Minh City.
On the afternoon of September 29, Tuong Mai Ward Police received a report from the family of a male student named N. (born in 2007, residing in Hong Bang Ward, Hai Phong , currently renting a room in Tuong Mai Ward). Relatives suspected that N. was the victim of an online scam, that the scammers lured the male student to a motel in Pho Vong, asked the family to transfer 450 million VND to prove financial ability to study abroad, and promised to return it after completing the transaction.
After receiving the information, Tuong Mai Ward Police coordinated with the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Hai Phong City Police to deploy verification measures and trace back to the locality.
At this time, the scammers continued to lure, control, and ask N. to move to many different locations and continuously contacted the family to urge them to transfer money. The detectives determined that they bought plane tickets and lured and controlled N. to Noi Bai airport, then would take her to Ho Chi Minh City.
Tuong Mai Ward Police urgently coordinated with the Criminal Police Department and Noi Bai Airport Security Station to cordon off the area and search for the victim.
After more than 8 hours, the male student was rescued in time at a motel on Vo Van Kiet Street, Hanoi, before being put on a flight.
The investigation showed that the bad guys impersonation The Da Nang City Police Investigation Agency invited N. to work because of his involvement in a case in Da Nang. Faced with pre-made scenarios, the male student was unable to assess the authenticity, leading to being controlled and lured.
The police are investigating the case further.
