Golden Apricot Award aspires to raise the level

Two major events related to the Mai Vang Awards on the evening of January 8 left many emotions in the hearts of artists, readers and the public.

This is the Art Program to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Mai Vang Award and the 30th Mai Vang Award Ceremony - 2024. Director Ton That Can, Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, commented that the program is a new step forward for the award.

More than 100 artists participated in the program and 8 performances summarized the typical characteristics of the Golden Apricot Award, which is the richness of the topics, clearly shown through each music, opera, and dance performance. Notably, all were performed by artists who have won the Golden Apricot Award.

Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong said that the 30th Mai Vang Awards ceremony was modern and humane, through the performances: "Mai Vang reunion to celebrate spring", "City medley of faith and aspiration", dance performance "30 years of Mai Vang flow" by the Bong Sen Folk Music and Dance Theater...

All the musical works arranged by 3 musicians: Dat Kim, Meritorious Artist Thanh Liem, Phuc Truong are a harmonious combination of traditional and modern instruments, creating a youthful and lively quality for the performances. Also participating in the arrangement is musician Hoang Anh Tuan with the medley "City of Faith and Aspiration". The artists who won the Mai Vang Award: People's Artist Kim Xuan, People's Artist Phuong Loan, People's Artist Tan Giao, the singing group Mat Ngoc and 2 rappers La Tran Duc Thien and Hoang Trung Anh also performed very successfully.

According to Meritorious Artist Vo Thanh Liem, this is a memorable milestone in his career as a composer when the scene "Mai Vang reunion celebrates spring" was performed emotionally by artists: People's Artist Le Thuy, People's Artist Minh Vuong, Meritorious Artist Thoai My, Meritorious Artist Vo Minh Lam, Meritorious Artist Tu Suong, artist Huynh Quy. "They performed with passionate feelings, highlighting the unceasing creative spirit of the team of artists who have won the Mai Vang Award - still maintaining their form, converging in the performance night marking the transformation of the Mai Vang Award" - Meritorious Artist Vo Thanh Liem emphasized.

Motivating the younger generation

People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc - a member of the Art Council of the Mai Vang Award for many years - commented that the presence of People's Artist Minh Vuong and People's Artist Le Thuy is a living proof of the vitality of the Mai Vang Award. After 30 years, Mai Vang has still maintained its brilliance, motivating the young generation of artists to follow the examples of previous artistic workers.

Meanwhile, People's Artist Hong Van confided: "I am happy to receive encouragement from the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for the constant efforts of artists. I deeply feel the expectations of the people of Ho Chi Minh City for the stage and the artistic careers of the artists who have won the Mai Vang Award. In the past 5 years, Mai Vang has created conditions for many artists to flourish in their profession, including actors of Hong Van Drama Stage. Although unable to attend the program due to health reasons, People's Artist Kim Cuong still expressed her joy that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has always paid attention to the activities of the Mai Vang Award over the past 30 years. "Each role and play voted by readers after a year of artistic work by artists has shown that the love of the stage, cinema, and music of the public is still intact. Thereby, it helps artists create more good works. Congratulations on the 30-year glorious achievements of the Mai Vang Award" - People's Artist Kim Cuong confided.

MC Quynh Hoa emotionally said that she has been associated with the Mai Vang Award for many years, was nominated and invited as a guest to present the award. "In my role as manager at the Youth Cultural House, I clearly understand the influence of the Mai Vang Award on cultural life in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general. I wish to continue working with the Mai Vang Award Organizing Committee to spread the mission of elevating the Vietnamese soul and loving Vietnamese culture."

Musician Nguyen Ngoc Thien said that the music community was very happy to know that the "The Country is Full of Joy" songwriting campaign organized by the Newspaper "Nguoi Lao Dong" had selected 4 works to be included in the performance program on the evening of January 8. He commented: "The performance is a highlight promoting compositions written about Ho Chi Minh City, a sublimation of the melodies of Nguoi Lao Dong before the achievements of the city named after Uncle Ho.
