Supervise the implementation of policies and laws on ensuring traffic order and safety in Dak Lak province.

On the afternoon of April 8, the National Assembly Standing Committee's Supervisory Delegation led by Party Central Committee member, National Assembly Standing Committee member, and Head of the People's Petition Committee Duong Thanh Binh had a working session with the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee on the implementation of policies and laws on ensuring traffic order and safety from 2009 to 2023 in Dak Lak province.

Receiving and working with the delegation were Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Ngoc Nghi, representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches and localities.

The report at the meeting said that the traffic network of Dak Lak province has a total length of more than 19,700 km, including 7 national highways, 12 provincial roads, district roads, commune roads and rural roads. The river system in the province has a total length of about 544 km; aviation with Buon Ma Thuot Airport basically meets the travel needs of the people.

Regarding transportation activities and transportation support services, the whole province has 123 freight and passenger transport business units, with a total of 15,042 vehicles; there are 15 bus stations, built in the form of socialization, meeting the standards of type 4 or higher, basically meeting the travel needs of the people. Dak Lak currently has 13 driving training facilities, 4 car driving test centers and 9 points of installation of automatic scoring equipment for practical driving tests in the form of A1 motorbikes.

The work of ensuring traffic order and safety is carried out consistently in each period, closely following and meeting the requirements of sustainable development of the country as well as the locality; many policies, solutions and plans are implemented and bring about high efficiency.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Ngoc Nghi spoke at the meeting.

From 2009 to 2023, there were 6,611 road traffic accidents in the province, killing 3,946 people and injuring 6,095 people. Traffic accidents have been gradually reduced in all three criteria of number of cases, number of deaths and number of injuries. Safety in inland waterway and air transport is ensured.

Patrolling, controlling, and handling violations of the law, order, and traffic safety are regularly and continuously deployed, contributing to maintaining order and discipline in traffic in the province. The Provincial Police force has recorded 1,589,692 violations, detained 374,505 vehicles, revoked 92,412 driving licenses of all types, prosecuted 964 cases, and arrested 962 suspects for violating regulations on traffic control.

At the working session, Dak Lak province recommended to the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee to consider amending and supplementing the Road Traffic Law to suit the new situation, especially the need to promulgate the Law on Ensuring Order and Safety of Road Traffic to better ensure security and order in the area, ensuring safety for people participating in traffic; recommended the Government to quickly complete the legal system, promote decentralization, clearly define responsibilities in state management of traffic; pay attention to budget investment and build mechanisms and policies to mobilize and use resources to build and develop infrastructure and ensure traffic order and safety...

Speaking at the working session, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Head of the People's Petition Committee Duong Thanh Binh highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and efforts of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments and branches in implementing policies and laws on ensuring traffic order and safety. At the same time, he suggested that in the coming time, Dak Lak province should do better in propagating traffic culture in many forms so that people can easily understand and implement; effectively use capital for repair and maintenance to protect road traffic infrastructure, ensure safe and smooth traffic; effectively carry out inspection, examination and registration of vehicles, etc.

Regarding the province's recommendations, the Delegation will receive and synthesize them to report to the National Assembly, and at the same time reflect them to the Government and relevant ministries and branches for consideration and resolution in the coming time.
