Prioritize training on new content
The 2018 General Education Program sets high requirements for innovation in schools and teachers. During the summer break and especially before the new school year, training programs take place even more, requiring teachers to be proactive and actively learn to meet the requirements.
From the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi primary schools will pilot a digital citizenship education program for students. In order for teachers to familiarize themselves with and effectively implement this content from the next school year, last weekend, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training organized a training course for more than 300 officials and teachers from 76 primary schools in the city. With thorough guidance in both theory and practice, experts have helped raise awareness among managers and teachers about the position, role and significance of digital citizenship education in implementing the 2018 General Education Program at the primary level; at the same time, unifying the content, methods and forms of organization in schools.
After successfully piloting digital report cards for primary schools, from the 2024-2025 school year, all high schools in Hanoi will also deploy digital report cards. This is a necessary and reasonable step to promote the digital transformation process in education, meeting the increasing needs of society.
With that spirit, Principal of Tay Ho High School Nguyen Anh Tuan said: the school has prepared all necessary resources to receive and implement digital transcripts most effectively, including training the teaching staff.
Although this is the second year of implementing this content, Principal of Co Nhue 2A Primary School, Bac Tu Liem District Nguyen Thi Thanh shared that the school will pay attention to the teaching staff on important contents in implementing digital report cards; including connecting and exchanging with parents and recording comments in the report cards correctly, close to students and in the spirit of Circular 27 of the Ministry of Education and Training . Along with that, training programs for new textbooks and improving teaching methods are also contents that schools seriously implement.
Strengthening and developing skills for teachers
Ba Dinh District Party Committee has just organized a 2024 Summer Political Training Course for nearly 4,000 education managers, teachers, and staff of kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, vocational education centers - continuing education centers in the district. This is an annual program to raise political and ideological awareness, improve theoretical level and political capacity of staff and teachers before the new school year.
To help preschool teachers know how to use the document "Education on elegant and civilized lifestyle", the Hanoi Department of Education and Training organized guidance for 100% of teachers teaching 5-6 year old kindergarten classes in public and non-public preschools in the city. The document drafting committee noted that when teaching children, teachers need to link education with children's daily activities, suggesting necessary advice to children, appropriate to their age. At the same time, teachers coordinate closely with children's parents, share information, unify the purpose, content and teaching methods for children to improve educational effectiveness.
In addition to improving professional knowledge, there are also training sessions on the Happy School Project; the art of pedagogical communication, image building through communication, etc. These activities not only provide knowledge and methodological orientation but also suggest to teachers many new skills to apply in teaching and communicating with students.
In recent years, the Hanoi education sector has deployed a smart digital library with full functions of managing traditional libraries and electronic libraries integrating the electronic science resource warehouse of the entire sector, integrating the online learning management system (LMS), and online testing and assessment. The sector has also promoted the deployment of IT applications to connect, interact, and exchange information between parents and schools, and increased the application of free information exchange solutions such as OTT messages, emails, applications on mobile devices and educational websites. The Department also mobilized teachers across the sector to participate in building and evaluating digital learning resources to serve teaching and self-study for students.
Up to this point, schools have held pedagogical council meetings; professional groups have also prepared programs and plans expected to be implemented in the next school year, aiming to improve quality, successfully carry out the school year's tasks, and contribute to promoting educational innovation.
