Teacher picks mangoes to give to students on closing day

Nghe An Teachers of Dien Phuc Primary School, Dien Chau District picked mangoes in the school yard to give to students on the closing day of the school year, receiving support from the community.

In the mid-morning of May 23, dozens of teachers from Dien Phuc Primary School and parents brought ladders and baskets to harvest 10 ripe mango trees.

Hundreds of students were eagerly watching and cheering. Some of them were also holding basins and tubs to hold the mangoes to help their teachers. The images were shared by the teacher on social media and received praise from the community.

Mr. Ha Huy Trung, Principal of Dien Phuc Primary School, said that yesterday was the day classes summarized the school year. This was also the time when the mango trees, which are over 10 years old, in the school yard were ripe. Therefore, the school decided to pick the fruit to give to the students.

After more than an hour, the teachers in the school picked about 1,000 mangoes, washed them, divided them into classes, and gave each child two mangoes.

"Although the material things are not big, this is a way for the children to learn more about protecting trees," said Mr. Trung, adding that before, the teacher had reminded the children not to climb and pick fruit on their own to avoid accidents.

This is the 5th year the school has harvested mangoes to give to students, but this year the quantity is larger than before because of the bumper crop.

Ms. Pham Thi Lan, a parent of a child studying at Dien Phuc Primary School, said that she and many other parents were excited about the school's activities. Ms. Lan appreciated the small but meaningful and joyful event on the day students gathered for the end of the school year.

Dien Phuc Primary School currently has 15 classes with 478 students; 27 teachers and staff. The school has met national standards level 2 since 2019.

A few days ago, images of students saluting the flag, doing exercises, and playing in a shady and fruit-filled schoolyard also delighted the online community.
