Hoan Kiem Old Quarter with its high population density, narrow traffic infrastructure and bustling commercial and tourist activities is always at high risk of fire and explosion, especially at Dong Xuan Market - a prominent commercial center, which welcomes tens of thousands of traders and tourists every day, especially on weekends.
Identifying the characteristics and potential risks related to fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue work, and in the context that the whole country is implementing a two-level local government model, the coordination between the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police force and the Hoan Kiem Ward government is very important to improve the effectiveness of fire prevention and handling in the area right from the beginning.

At the ceremony, the functional forces organized a fire fighting and rescue plan practice at the residential area of Dong Xuan 7 Residential Group, Hoan Kiem Ward. Through the practice, it contributed to improving the initiative and combat readiness, promptly extinguishing fires and explosions caused by any cause in the ward, minimizing damage to people and property caused by fire; the plan was built in accordance with the characteristics of Hoan Kiem Ward, which is high construction density, difficult traffic infrastructure, small streets, small alleys, and inadequate water source for fire fighting.
Immediately after the drill ended, the authorities also organized a propaganda campaign on knowledge and skills to organize fire fighting and rescue drills in residential areas for residents and traders in the Dong Xuan market area and neighboring streets.

The model of "both on duty and propaganda" not only improves the ability to respond to crowded traffic conditions in the Old Quarter, but also helps turn each shift into a propaganda session to organize fire fighting and rescue drills in mobile residential areas, directly effective for the community.
After the first day of implementation, many traders expressed their peace of mind and actively took the initiative to add fire extinguishers, arrange goods scientifically , and regularly check the electrical system.

* Previously, on September 20, at the front of LOTTE Tay Ho Shopping Center, Fire Fighting and Rescue Team No. 14 - Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department, Hanoi City Police coordinated with other units to organize the program "Experience - Practice fire prevention and fighting" for children, parents and local people.
The program took place from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., attracting a large number of children, parents and many people living in Tay Ho, Phu Thuong, Xuan Dinh and neighboring areas. With a spacious space, vivid visuals, diverse and accessible experiential activities, giving participants the feeling of both learning and playing but still gaining a lot of useful knowledge.
In the exciting atmosphere of the experience, the children directly participated in many activities related to the daily work of firefighters and rescuers. From listening to officers and soldiers impart basic knowledge about fire prevention and fighting, to holding a water hose to extinguish a simulated fire, the children learned and played with joy. Not only that, the simulated situations helped the children practice their ability to respond and handle flexibly when an incident occurred.

The program space also became more vibrant with a check-in photo area, where families can capture memorable moments with fire fighting models and vehicles.
In particular, the activity of practicing escape skills in a simulated fire and smoke environment has given the children a real experience, helping to form the necessary reflexes when encountering danger. And perhaps the most attractive part is the ladder truck experience, where the children can witness with their own eyes, and even be lifted up high with the firefighters and the vehicle, creating excitement and unforgettable impressions.
