Yesterday (March 7), the Hanoi Department of Tourism issued a dispatch requesting businesses providing travel services and transporting tourists in the capital not to introduce or organize "Train Street Coffee" tours.
To ensure railway traffic safety and security for tourists, the Department of Tourism requires travel service businesses and tourist transport businesses in Hanoi to propagate and raise awareness among employees in the unit about the risk of traffic accidents that may occur when tourists come to the "Train Street Coffee" business area in the three wards of Cua Nam, Hang Bong and Cua Dong. Units do not introduce or organize tours to bring tourists to this business area.
Hanoi requests not to introduce or organize "Train Street Coffee" tours.
The document also requested businesses providing travel services and transporting tourists in Hanoi to proactively coordinate closely with relevant authorities to promptly detect, prevent and handle violations.
The Department of Tourism requires businesses providing travel services and transporting tourists in the city to seriously implement the above contents, in order to ensure order and safety in railway traffic and urban order in the city.
Previously, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District issued Document No. 226/UBND-VHTT dated February 6, 2025 requesting coordination in handling the business activities of "Train Cafe" to ensure security and safety of railway traffic for tourists and urban order.
In 2022, the authorities set up barriers and blocked both entrances to the railway coffee "neighborhood" on Tran Phu and Phung Hung streets. However, the coffee shops on the railway section on Phung Hung street, or Cua Nam section, were still operating. Tourists, especially foreign tourists, seemed very excited every time a train passed by. However, this activity posed a high risk to railway traffic safety and urban order.
