Ha Tinh: Hundreds of ships and boats come ashore to take shelter from storm No. 5

(Baohatinh.vn) - Due to the complicated developments of storm No. 5, hundreds of fishing boats and ships of Ha Tinh and many neighboring localities have moved to anchorage areas in the province to take shelter.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 p.m. on August 23, the center of storm No. 5 (storm Kajiki) was at about 17.4 degrees North latitude; 115.0 degrees East longitude, about 300km East Northeast of Hoang Sa special zone. The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 9 (75-88km/h), gusting to level 11; moving in the West Northwest direction at a speed of about 25km/h.

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 5, hundreds of fishermen have proactively brought their boats ashore to ensure safety.

According to statistics from the Management Board of Fishing Ports and Storm Shelters for Fishing Boats in Ha Tinh, by 2:30 p.m. on August 23, 605 ships and boats had anchored at ports in the province; of which, 564 ships and boats belonged to Ha Tinh fishermen and 41 ships and boats belonged to fishermen from other provinces.

Specifically, at the fishing port and storm shelter area of ​​Cua Sot (Loc Ha commune), there are 185 domestic ships and boats and 20 foreign ships and boats; at the fishing port and storm shelter area of ​​Cua Hoi - Xuan Pho (Dan Hai commune), there are 20 domestic ships and boats; at the storm shelter area of ​​Cua Nhuong (Thien Cam commune), there are 135 domestic ships and boats; at the storm shelter area of ​​Cua Khau (Hai Ninh ward), there are 140 domestic ships and boats.

According to Mr. Than Quoc Te - Deputy Director of the Management Board of Fishing Ports and Storm Shelters for Fishing Boats in Ha Tinh, as soon as information about the storm was received, the unit promptly notified and instructed fishermen to proactively bring their vessels to safe anchorage areas. The inspection and arrangement of ships and boats were tightened and arranged scientifically to minimize collisions and incidents when the storm directly affected. The top priority of the unit is to protect the lives of fishermen and keep their assets safe at sea.
