Two Vietnamese sepak takraw teams entered the finals of the world tournament.

(Dan Tri) - The Vietnamese men's and women's sepak takraw teams defeated Thailand and South Korea respectively to enter the finals of the 2025 World Sepak Takraw Championship.

The Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team with familiar players such as Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Nguyen Thi Yen, Nguyen Thi My and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen is rated higher than Korea in the semi-final match on the evening of July 25.

The match was even, but when the score was 5-4, the Vietnamese girls scored consecutive points to lead 12-5, ending the first half with a score of 15-7. In the second half, the Vietnamese women's team scored 8 consecutive points from a score of 2-1 to lead 10-1. Coach Tran Thi Vui's team won 15-6, ending the match with an overwhelming victory and qualifying for the final.

The Vietnamese men's sepak takraw team started with four players: Nguyen Hoang Lan, Vuong Minh Chau, Dau Van Hoang and Nguyen Van Ly, facing Thailand in the semi-finals on the evening of July 25. The two teams were chasing each point, but when the Vietnamese boys led 10-7, coach Tran Huynh Dat and his team maintained the gap to win 15-12 in the first half.

In the second half, the Vietnamese men's team entered the match with excitement and led 4-1, but then the host team equalized to 4-4. The match was tense, the Vietnamese men's team led 10-7 but were equalized to 14-14 and their bravery in the last minute helped us win 17-16, qualifying for the final.

The Sepak Takraw World Championship takes place annually in Thailand and this year will be held in Songkhla province from July 22 to July 28.

The Vietnamese men's team will meet Japan in the final on July 26, while the Vietnamese women's team will meet Thailand on July 27. The Vietnamese women's team won the championship in 2022 and 2023, while the Vietnamese men's team has never won the championship.
