Belarus national airline opens direct flight to Phu Quoc island

According to the plan, charter flights on the Minsk-Phu Quoc route will be operated every 11 days, including both economy and business class.

On October 11, Belarus' national airline Belavia launched the first direct flight connecting the capital Minsk with Vietnam's Phu Quoc island, marking an important step forward in aviation and tourism connectivity between the two countries.

According to the plan, charter flights on the Minsk-Phu Quoc route will be operated every 11 days, including both economy and business class.

Tourists can book tickets through tour packages offered by Belarus travel agencies.

A representative of the travel company AeroBel Service, the unit that booked the charter flight, said that the unit had sold out all tickets for flights until March 2026, and predicted that in the 2025-2026 tourist season, the number of visitors to Vietnam via Belavia flights could reach nearly 10,000.

Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Lukashevich, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Nguyen Van Trung, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority, Ministry of Transport of Belarus and Deputy General Director of Belavia Airlines attended the press conference officially announcing the Minsk-Phu Quoc route.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Lukashevich affirmed that the new flight route is the first result of the strategic partnership announced by the two countries during the state visit of General Secretary To Lam in May 2025.

He emphasized that the relationship between Belarus and Vietnam is developing very positively in the political and economic fields, in which both sides are very interested in promoting tourism development and assessed that the opening of the Minsk-Phu Quoc flight route will contribute to realizing this cooperation potential.

He also pointed out that the 30-day visa exemption policy in Vietnam for Belarusian citizens has opened up great opportunities for Belarusian people to explore a beautiful and hospitable country.

Speaking to the press, Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung emphasized that the launch of the first direct flight is a historic milestone, the first concrete step to implement the agreement between the two countries' senior leaders during General Secretary To Lam's State visit to Belarus.

The Ambassador affirmed that with its tradition of hospitality, Vietnam has many world-class tourist destinations, attracting visitors from all over the world to explore and experience.

Vietnam attaches great importance to developing tourism with Belarus, contributing to promoting people-to-people exchange and strengthening solidarity between the two nations.

For his part, Mr. Gleb Parkhamovich, First Deputy General Director of Belavia, affirmed that flights to Vietnam are a top priority for the airline and the opening of the route is important to the airline's operations.

He also said that Belavia will not stop at Phu Quoc but will consider other Vietnamese resort destinations for future charter flights, especially when Belavia has added many modern Airbus A330-200 aircraft to its fleet./.
