To ensure the balance of supply and demand of goods to serve consumers, the Department of Industry and Trade has coordinated with relevant units to implement a plan to reserve, diversify goods sources, stimulate consumption and stabilize prices of all goods, avoiding shortages and sudden price increases.

At this time, in traditional markets, supermarkets, shopping malls, and convenience stores, there are many people shopping to prepare for the Lunar New Year 2025. The most popular products chosen by consumers are still essential products: confectionery, beer, alcohol, processed foods, fresh seafood, etc. According to businesses, distributors, and retailers, this year's purchasing power has decreased somewhat compared to Tet 2024 due to the impact of storm No. 3, but at this time it has also increased 2-3 times compared to normal days. Previously, to ensure people's shopping and consumption needs, businesses have also proactively produced and stockpiled goods to avoid shortages and high prices.

Grasping the market's needs, since the fourth quarter of 2024, GO! Ha Long supermarket has developed plans to ensure the reserve and supply of goods to serve people's consumption needs during Tet. All essential goods and foods have been supplemented 3 times higher than normal days with a total value of 200 billion VND. Backup plans have also been built, ready to promptly meet the supply of goods according to the fluctuating needs of the market. Along with that, implementing the direction of the Department of Industry and Trade on stimulating consumption, GO! Ha Long supermarket has also applied many deep discount programs from 20-40% on all items; a program to give vouchers when purchasing goods with a total value of 800,000 VND or more. Promotional and discount programs are applied until the end of Lunar New Year.

To ensure goods for the 2025 Lunar New Year, since November 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade has worked with centers and units distributing essential goods and requested them to sign a commitment to ensure the supply of goods, quality, and prices are publicly listed and stable. At the same time, many solutions have been implemented to facilitate customers such as diversifying shopping channels both directly and online, free shipping, deep discount promotions, etc. According to the plan, up to now, the whole province has reserved goods worth 1,300 billion VND including 1,500 items.

The Department of Industry and Trade has also directed functional forces and units to coordinate with localities to monitor the supply and demand and market prices in localities during the Lunar New Year. Strengthen inspection and closely monitor production and business activities, import and export of goods, and prevent counterfeit, banned, and substandard goods from flooding the market. Encourage business owners to proactively have plans to open earlier and close later than at present to serve the shopping needs of people and tourists.

The authorities have increased inspection and control of the quality of goods in the provincial market.

To stimulate consumption, the Department of Industry and Trade has coordinated with departments, branches, units and localities to organize the " Quang Ninh OCOP Fair - Spring 2025" from January 17 to 22 at the Provincial Planning, Fair and Exhibition Palace with a scale of 200 booths selling Quang Ninh OCOP products as well as agricultural products, OCOP of many provinces and cities across the country, diverse in designs and prices, creating more options for consumers to shop for goods at the end of the year.

Along with that, in many localities in the province, trade promotion activities are also taking place such as: Spring Flower Fair of Ha Long City, Border Spring Fair 2025 of Mong Cai City, Flower and ornamental plant fair combining trade and OCOP products of Dong Trieu 2025 organized by Dong Trieu City...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: In the coming time, we will continue to organize inter-sectoral inspections, coordinate with functional forces to strengthen inspection and supervision at commercial centers and markets to check the origin and quality of goods, ensure stable prices, and guarantee the legitimate rights of consumers.
