Thousands of schools were damaged, tens of thousands of students could not go to school due to storm No. 10.

On the afternoon of October 3, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Vietnam Education Trade Union held a ceremony to launch the Education sector to join hands to support people affected by storm No. 10. At the ceremony, leaders of the MOET, units and individuals inside and outside the education sector donated a total of more than 3.6 billion VND.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son shared: Provinces and cities in the North Central and Northern regions are going through particularly difficult days due to the serious impact of storm No. 10. In the general damage, the education sector has also suffered a lot of losses.

According to initial information from some localities, up to now, thousands of schools have been damaged; tens of thousands of students have not been able to go to school. Of which, Ha Tinh and Nghe An are the localities that have suffered the most damage: In Ha Tinh, 412 educational establishments were affected, with total damage of about 428.95 billion VND; in Nghe An, 483 educational establishments were affected, with estimated damage of nearly 300 billion VND.

Hundreds of schools in other localities such as Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Thanh Hoa and the northern mountainous provinces were also severely affected by storm No. 10 and its aftermath...

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son launched a campaign to support people affected by storm No. 10.

Faced with the above heavy damage, responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, with responsibility and spirit of joining the whole country in supporting the provinces and cities, especially teachers and students who suffered from storms and floods, the Ministry of Education and Training and the Vietnam Education Trade Union organized "Supporting people to overcome the consequences of storm No. 10".

On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Vietnam Education Trade Union, Minister Nguyen Kim Son called on the entire education sector, officials, civil servants, public employees, staff, students, and organizations and individuals inside and outside the sector to join hands, contribute materially and spiritually, with support, encouragement, and connection to share the difficulties with people in flood-hit areas in general and with the education sector of provinces and cities that are suffering heavy damage in particular.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son noted that immediately after this fundraising launch, the transfer of support to the beneficiaries needs to be done as quickly as possible. In particular, priority is given to supporting people, first of all teachers and students. These are teachers who have suffered losses and have difficulty in living conditions and transportation; and students who, without support, will not be able to continue going to school...

Minister Nguyen Kim Son also requested that Departments of Education and Training and educational institutions increase propaganda about support and contributions, including for students.

At the launching ceremony, leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, units and individuals inside and outside the education sector donated a total amount of more than 3.6 billion VND.
