The 3rd National Lion Dance Club Championship, 2023, has had its final matches, in the Lion Dance category on the Mai Hoa Valley at the Provincial Training, Coaching and Competition Center. The tournament ended with an exciting and dramatic competition: Lion Dance on the Mai Hoa Valley.

Audience member Huynh Van Phat shared: I have been watching for several days and waiting for this competition of the groups because this is the most difficult content. Many clubs performed lively, skillful and precise in their movements. They created wonderful performances.

“I mainly took the kids to watch because they liked it. But when I watched it, it was so fun, there were many scenes where the two of them transformed into juggling on the high pillars that made my heart stop. And the little guys, needless to say, screamed so much...” - Ms. Cao Thi Tuyet Suong said.

To have a perfect performance without any mistakes, the athletes must coordinate smoothly. The Lion Dance on Mai Hoa Thung, the main performance, has only 2 athletes but below is a group that coordinates rhythmically with each drum and gong sound. “Before performing, the clubs must register the technical movements according to different levels of difficulty, more or less. The referee will score based on whether the difficult movements are completed or not, or whether there are minor or major mistakes during the performance and deduct points. It looks like that, but it is very difficult, requiring a lot of practice” - the referee from Binh Phuoc shared.

Before a performance, the judges must check each athlete, each costume and prop to perform. This is also a tournament that gathers many judges and is serious in the judging process and ensures honesty in each competition.

Binh Thuan creates highlights

The tournament was organized with many competitions: Dragon Dance; Lion Dance; Lion (Blood) Platform Jump; Individual Lion (Blood) Pole Climbing; Team Lion (Blood) Pole Climbing; Female Lion Climbing Mai Hoa Thung; Male Lion Climbing Mai Hoa Thung. But Lion Climbing Mai Hoa Thung is the most anticipated competition and has the most participation from clubs.

This content is not only attractive because there will be beautiful performances, but also the most anticipated with the enthusiastic cheers of fans. Binh Thuan is also a bright spot in this sport when reaping many successes in this season, although losing closely to TP. HCM 1, it has more or less left a loving feeling for the audience.

The 3rd National Lion Dance Club Championship in 2023 has the participation of 19 Lion Dance Clubs across the country, such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Long, Binh Duong, Da Nang, An Giang, Dong Nai, Can Tho, Tay Ninh, Binh Thuan...

This national sports event was organized by the Department of Sports in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan, in response to the National Tourism Year 2023 "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence". The athletes demonstrated their hard work and coordination during the competition. However, during the competition, we witnessed many technical errors and falls from high places of the athletes, showing that to have great performances, bringing excitement to the audience, it is the effort and even injuries of the athletes.

Lion Dance is a sport with many elements of performing arts and is organized to preserve and promote the nation's unique cultural and sporting traditions, meet the people's need for cultural and sports enjoyment, and enhance understanding, exchange and solidarity between localities across the country.
