On February 17, the Office of the People's Council of Da Nang City announced that the People's Committee of Da Nang City has submitted a report on the level of support for voluntary blood donors in the area.

According to the draft resolution, in addition to support according to regulations of the Ministry of Health , Da Nang will provide cash support for blood donors in the amount of 100,000 VND for a 250ml blood unit, 150,000 VND for a 350ml blood unit, and 180,000 VND for a 450ml blood unit.

Volunteer blood donors who separate blood components will receive cash support of VND 200,000 for blood units from 250ml to 400ml.

Receive support of 250,000 VND for blood units from 400ml to 500ml.

Receive support of 300,000 VND for blood units from 500ml to 600ml.

Accordingly, with the separate cash support level of Da Nang city along with cash support (travel expenses) according to Circular No. 15 of the Ministry of Health , voluntary blood donors will receive cash about 33 - 52% lower than blood donors who receive money.

Specifically, if you donate 250ml, you will receive a total support amount of 150,000 VND, compared to the total amount of money that blood donors receive, which is 225,000 VND, which is 33.3% lower.

Donating 350ml will receive a total support amount of 200,000 VND, compared to the total amount of money that blood donors receive which is 350,000 VND, it is 42.9% lower.

Donating 450ml will receive a total support amount of 230,000 VND, compared to the total amount of money that blood donors receive which is 460,000 VND, it is 50% lower.

For blood donors who separate blood components from 250ml - 400ml, the support amount is 250,000 VND, 41.9% lower than those who donate blood for money, receiving 430,000 VND.

Currently, according to regulations of the Ministry of Health, voluntary blood donors will receive on-site light meals, gifts in kind and travel expenses support (cash).

Encourage voluntary blood donation, reduce blood donation for money

According to the People's Committee of Da Nang City, currently 94% of the blood received in Da Nang City is from voluntary blood donors.

From 2019 to present, Da Nang City has maintained and exceeded the target of the blood mobilization and reception plan assigned by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and is higher than the national average.

However, the voluntary blood donation campaign still has some problems such as: the voluntary blood donation rate, the repeat blood donation rate, the blood donation rate of 350ml or more in Da Nang city is lower than the whole country.

The rate of voluntary blood donation of blood units with a volume of 350ml or more is lower than the national average (Da Nang has 55% of blood units while the national average is 61%).

Therefore, Da Nang supports voluntary blood donors to help them recover their health. At the same time, it minimizes the rate of people donating blood for money.
