The "steerer" who brought Vietnamese women's rattan ball to the world level
Born and raised in Bac Giang , a land rich in sports tradition, Coach Tran Thi Vui soon showed her talent for Sepak Takraw. At the age of 12, she won a gold medal at the Ha Bac Provincial Sports Festival - a milestone that opened her journey to professional sports. Selected for the National Sepak Takraw Team very early, Coach Tran Thi Vui was an excellent athlete before falling in love and fully committing her coaching career to Sepak Takraw - a sport that is still new in Vietnam but requires hard work and a strong spirit.

Moving from athlete to coach, Tran Thi Vui always believes that no matter what position she holds, her greatest responsibility is to do her best to contribute to the country's flag. It is this belief that has led coach Tran Thi Vui from the early days of many difficulties to the brilliant victories today.
Under the leadership of Coach Tran Thi Vui, the National Sepak Takraw Women's Team has achieved numerous resounding successes. From Asian tournaments, SEA Games, ASIAD to the world arena, the Vietnamese Sepak Takraw girls have continuously affirmed their leading position. Notably, in 2025, the women's team under the direct guidance of Coach Tran Thi Vui won the Sepak Takraw World Cup in the 4-women category, defeating traditional opponents Thailand in a dramatic final match. This is not only a historic victory for Vietnamese Sepak Takraw but also a clear demonstration of Vietnam's mettle, will and intelligence in the international arena.
Not only achieving results, Coach Tran Thi Vui also stands out in her ability to build reasonable and scientific tactics. As a coach, she always knows how to maximize the strengths of each athlete, adjust the playing style flexibly, combine ingenuity and physical endurance.

A shining example in the patriotic emulation movement
When mentioning Coach Tran Thi Vui, female Sepak Takraw athletes all have respect and love. Not only is she a strict teacher on the training ground, Coach Tran Thi Vui is also a sister, a companion, understanding the difficulties of female athletes. From the lack of training conditions to the hardships of everyday life, Coach Tran Thi Vui always encourages, shares, and motivates her students. It is this dedication that has helped build a cohesive, united team like a family, ready to overcome challenges to win glory.
Nominated at the 4th Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Coach Tran Thi Vui is not only the pride of Vietnamese Sepak Takraw but also a typical face of the patriotic emulation movement in the sports industry. The achievements of the Team do not come from luck, but from the iron will, the spirit of overcoming difficulties and the determination to rise up. Coach Tran Thi Vui is a testament to the value of "emulation is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation" that Uncle Ho once advised.
Coach Tran Thi Vui and athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh have contributed to inspiring and spreading the will, determination, desire to contribute and conquer passion to generations of athletes and coaches pursuing a top sports career.
At a young age, coach Tran Thi Vui continues to cherish the aspiration of taking Vietnamese sepak takraw further and further, maintaining the number one position in the continent, and at the same time expanding its influence on the world stage.
On the occasion of being honored at the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department's Advanced Model Conference held last June, Coach Tran Thi Vui shared: "During my years of coaching, I have constantly learned professionally, improved my knowledge to implement and complete all assigned tasks, contributing a small part in the development and achievement of Sepak Takraw as well as the achievements of Vietnam in the international arena."
In the training of the national team in recent years, Coach Tran Thi Vui and her colleagues have always selected and trained athletes with a fighting spirit and solidarity in training and competition to bring glory to the Fatherland at international tournaments such as SEA Games, ASIAD, World Championship, and Sepak Takraw World Cup.
Among the typical advanced examples of the sports industry, the presence of a female coach like Tran Thi Vui has a special meaning. She not only brought achievements, but also affirmed the mettle, intelligence and resilience of Vietnamese women in the renovation period, contributing to enriching the tradition of "being good at national affairs and good at family affairs".
