Yemen U23 coach makes a strong statement before the decisive match with Vietnam U23

After the second round of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers last night (September 6), U23 Yemen had 6 points, equal to U23 Vietnam, but temporarily ranked lower due to lower sub-index.

If U23 Yemen wins against coach Kim Sang Sik's team on September 9, they will surpass us to lead Group C and officially win a ticket to the final round of the U23 Asian Cup.

According to the rules of this tournament, the group winners and the four best second-placed teams (there are a total of 11 groups) will qualify for the final round.

After the victory over U23 Bangladesh last night, U23 Yemen coach Al Sunaini said: “The performance of the Yemeni players has improved significantly. U23 Yemen played at a better level, controlled the match better. We fought until the last seconds. U23 Yemen completely deserved the past victories.”

In front of U23 Yemen is U23 Vietnam. Coach Kim Sang Sik's team is considered the strongest in Group C. Coach Al Sunaini is mentally prepared to face a big challenge from the home team of Group C.

The coach shared: “U23 Yemen will enter the match against U23 Vietnam with the highest determination. Our goal is nothing other than to win against U23 Vietnam, thereby taking the top spot in Group C.”

“Any team that wants to pass the group stage and reach the finals must always try and fight to the end in every match. There is not too much difference in level between the teams in Group C. The concentration and determination of the teams in each match will decide the results and rankings of the teams in the group,” affirmed Coach Al Sunaini.

The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Yemen will take place at 7:00 p.m. on September 9 at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ).
