On the afternoon of January 17, the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union organized a meeting program "Vietnamese families with Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City" on the occasion of the Spring of At Ty 2025.

The program has the participation of 43 families of women members who are adopting Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City. This activity aims to contribute to taking care of the lives of international students, and at the same time express gratitude to the families who have accompanied the Association in implementing the program "Vietnamese families with Lao and Cambodian students".

Ms. Trinh Thi Thanh, Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union, shared: The Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union is very happy that 43 families participated in the program, ready to welcome Lao and Cambodian students into their families. This is an action showing the solidarity and hospitality of the people of Ho Chi Minh City. Many families participated and adopted up to 6 students, which proves the strong spirit of solidarity in the community. From there, the solidarity and friendship of the three countries that have been built over the past time has been further strengthened.

Ms. Lam Ngoc Yen, a family who has participated in the program since 2019, said: At first, she felt very confused, especially because of the language and cultural differences. However, over time, she felt a connection and love for the children. One of her adopted children graduated as a doctor and returned to Laos to serve the country. Ms. Yen said she will continue to participate in the program in the coming years, not only because of love but also to strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and other countries.

"From 2019 until now, I have raised two children. One has graduated, become a doctor and is currently serving in Laos. The other child is studying at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, and only comes home on weekends. When he comes home, I cook whatever he wants to eat, or we go out together. If he is busy on the week, that's fine. I consider my children as my own children in the family, and I call them to join me on every important occasion," Ms. Yen said.

The program "Vietnamese families with Lao and Cambodian students" not only spreads the bond but also builds bridges of friendship, helping Lao and Cambodian students understand more deeply about the cultural traditions of Vietnam. The Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union hopes that the program will continue to develop and expand, while opening up more opportunities for meaningful exchanges and connections between Vietnamese families and international students.
