Conference on solutions to limit child injuries

On May 3, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference on "Assessing, analyzing causes and proposing solutions to limit injury accidents, especially drowning in children and students" in the province.

According to statistics from the authorities, in 2023, the number of children who died from accidents was 29, of which 23 died from drowning, double that of 2022. In the first 4 months of 2024 alone, the number of children who drowned was 10. These are alarming numbers about the problem of accidents in children.

Based on the comments of the delegates attending the conference, the leaders of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs requested that sectors and localities promote communication and education to raise awareness and responsibility of organizations and individuals on preventing and combating drowning of TE; propagate and mobilize families to regularly care for and monitor TE, especially during the summer, proactively take children to swimming lessons and learn safety skills in the water environment. All levels, functional sectors and school units should consider and research to include swimming in sports in schools; restart swimming pools equipped for schools; increase investment in swimming pools, open training classes on knowledge and skills of teaching swimming, preventing and combating drowning of TE; encourage businesses to invest in swimming pools, socialize swimming teaching and invest in water recreational activities so that TE are equipped with swimming skills and safety in the water environment.
