Hanoi Journalists Association meets to pay tribute to generations of journalists in the capital

On the afternoon of June 25, in Hanoi, the Hanoi Journalists Association held a conference to review the Association's activities in the first 6 months of the year, set out directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2025; and met to express gratitude to generations of journalists in the capital on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's revolutionary press (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).

Attending the conference were journalist Ho Quang Loi, former Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association , former Head of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda Department, former President of the Hanoi Journalists Association, former Editor-in-Chief of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper; Comrade Nguyen Huy Cuong, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department. Also attending the conference were leaders of departments, branches, and sectors; leaders of the Hanoi Journalists Association, leaders of the city's press agencies through the periods and exemplary members.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, journalist To Quang Phan, Chairman of the Hanoi Journalists Association, expressed his deep gratitude to generations of journalists in the capital who have contributed to the common development of the Association and press agencies, contributing to the cause of protecting, building and developing the country and the capital. This is also an opportunity for journalists to review the history, memories, and the process of working together at each newspaper, each press publication, as well as the time they have worked together under the "common roof" - the Hanoi Journalists Association over the past 37 years.

According to journalist To Quang Phan, in recent times, with the attention and close direction of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City and Vietnam Journalists Association, along with all sectors and levels, Hanoi press has been constantly developing. In 2008, implementing Resolution 15 of the National Assembly on adjusting the administrative boundaries of the Capital, press agencies of Ha Tay province came under the same "one roof", Hanoi press had more favorable conditions to grow.

At this time, Hanoi press had a large number of members; achieved many achievements and press awards from the Central, ministries and branches; the activities of the Journalists Association rose to the top of Journalists Associations in the country.

“The capital’s press agencies have made many contributions to the work of propagating the Party’s guidelines and policies, the State’s laws and policies, and the city’s Party Committee and government; encouraging and supporting people of all walks of life in the cause of building, developing and defending the Fatherland. The Party, the State, the central ministries and branches, Hanoi city and the Vietnam Journalists Association have recognized and awarded many noble awards and titles for the great contributions of the capital’s press agencies and journalists,” noted journalist To Quang Phan.

The City Journalists Association has made many efforts to innovate its methods and content of activities, proactively proposing many measures to gather, unite, and encourage journalists to continuously study and practice, improve their professional qualifications and political ideology. In particular, the Ngo Tat To Journalism Award and the writing contest on advanced models, good people, and good deeds of Hanoi city have been deployed and maintained by the Association for more than 30 years.

Talking about the 4.0 era, with many opportunities and challenges for the press, journalist To Quang Phan affirmed that the Hanoi press is always proud and will continue to fulfill its mission of "shock soldiers on the ideological front", successfully completing the task of propagating the Party's policies and guidelines, the State's laws and policies, the City Party Committee, the People's Council, the City People's Committee and all levels and sectors.

Summarizing the Association's activities in the first 6 months of the year and setting out the directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2025, journalist Kieu Thanh Hung, Permanent Vice President of the Hanoi Journalists Association, emphasized that press agencies, Inter-Associations and Sub-Associations have done a good job of encouraging and motivating members to propagate political tasks; promptly deploy, thoroughly grasp and propagate the Directives, Resolutions and Conclusions of the Party Central Committee (13th tenure), the National Assembly (15th tenure) and the key work program of the City Party Committee, 17th tenure; the goals of the socio-economic development program of the Capital in 2025. In particular, strongly propagandize the implementation of innovation, rearrangement of the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined, operate effectively and efficiently in the spirit of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TU and the Project, rearrangement and reorganization of administrative units at all levels and building a 2-level local government organization model; continue to promote Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.

The Association and press agencies, with a large number of members, actively participated in and carried out many outstanding programs and activities, emulation movements to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025); implemented the city's key plans and activities on science and technology development, promoted digital transformation to create multimedia press works to meet public needs; organized many brand building activities, charitable social activities to create resonance...

The core task of the Hanoi Journalists Association and press agencies and members in the last 6 months of the year, according to journalist Kieu Thanh Hung, is to innovate and reorganize the apparatus in the spirit of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TU, strive to adapt, fulfill the responsibilities of journalists, truly be worthy of being soldiers on the ideological and cultural front of the Party, contribute to building the Capital, and carry out the tasks assigned by the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee.

Representing the capital's journalists speaking at the conference, journalist Ho Quang Loi expressed his emotion at meeting many veteran journalists who have been associated with the Hanoi Journalists Association and Hanoi press through the ages.

Affirming the important contributions of the Hanoi Journalists Association as well as generations of members in the 100-year flow of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press, journalist Ho Quang Loi believes that Hanoi's press will continue the traditional "flame", transform strongly in the digital age, maintain professional ethics, build the press culture of the capital and the whole country, worthy of the trust of the Party, State and people.

On this occasion, the Hanoi Journalists Association commended 11 collectives of the Inter-Association and affiliated Sub-Associations; awarded Certificates of Merit to 17 individual members with achievements in professional activities and Association building in 2024; and awarded the Medal for the Cause of Vietnamese Journalism to members who have contributed to the development of Vietnamese journalism.
