More than 1,700 billion VND for maritime construction maintenance in 2025

The Ministry of Transport has just approved the Maritime Works Maintenance Plan for 2025.

According to the plan, the total budget capital expected for maritime construction maintenance in 2025 is about more than 1,745 billion VND.

Of which, the dredging and maintenance of maritime routes has an estimated capital of about 1,681 billion VND and the repair and maintenance of maritime works has an estimated capital of more than 64 billion VND.

Many dredging projects will be carried out in 2025 to ensure the standard depth of the shipping channel (Illustration photo).

In 2025, many dredging and maintenance projects will continue to be implemented year-round. Specifically, the project to dredge the Da Nang waterway to standard depths of -11.0/-8.1/-5.6 m will be implemented in 3 years from 2023 to 2025. The project has an estimated dredging volume of about 200,000 m3 and a cost of more than 37 billion VND.

In the period of 2024-2025, many maritime routes will be dredged such as Hai Phong route (Lach Huyen section, Song Cam section, Cai Trap Canal), Pha Rung route, Cua Hoi - Ben Thuy route (Cua Hoi section), Cua Viet route, Soai Rap route, Saigon - Vung Tau route, Ba Ngoi route, maritime routes for large tonnage ships entering Hau River.

Projects implemented in 2025 - 2026 will dredge and maintain shipping channels such as: Hai Phong (Ha Nam and Bach Dang Canal sections), Nghi Son, Cua Lo, Chan May, Phan Thiet, Soai Rap, Vung Tau - Thi Vai (including Dinh River shipping channel).

In 2025 alone, the Rach Gia waterway will be dredged and completed to a depth of -2.5m. The project has a budget of about 25 billion VND.

In the period from 2025 to 2028, there will be 3 maritime channels arranged for dredging and maintenance, including: Hai Phong (Lach Huyen section); Saigon - Vung Tau and maritime channels for large tonnage ships entering the Hau River.

Regarding the 2025 maritime works repair and maintenance plan, the projects to be implemented include 5 projects: Repair and maintenance of the sand-blocking dyke system on Cua Viet maritime channel (South dyke); Repair and maintenance of the dyke system on the Ha Nam Canal channel (Hai Phong channel); Repair and maintenance of the sand-blocking dyke on Lach Huyen channel (Hai Phong channel); Repair and maintenance of the South dyke (Hai Thinh channel); Repair and maintenance of the mooring buoy system on Dinh An - Song Hau channel.

The Vietnam Maritime Administration is responsible for organizing the implementation of the plan's contents to ensure quality, economic and technical efficiency, progress and compliance with legal regulations.

Exercise the authority of the investment decision maker for projects under the plan approved by the Ministry of Transport in the decision.

In addition, the Vietnam Civil Aviation Administration shall establish and report to the Ministry of Transport the detailed progress of the plan implementation as a basis for inspection and supervision during the implementation process. Summarize and periodically and suddenly report the results of the plan implementation according to regulations.

At the same time, strengthen state management, inspection, supervision, and guidance for relevant agencies and units to implement the plan, especially the inspection and supervision of dumping of dredged materials and depth survey during the implementation of projects according to the provisions of law.

The Department of Transport Infrastructure is responsible for presiding over the synthesis and advising the Ministry's leaders in the process of organizing, implementing, inspecting, adjusting and supplementing plans in a timely, effective and legal manner.
