The organizers have announced a list of more than 4,000 athletes participating, a record for Asia’s most important youth sporting event. The nine-day Games (October 22-31) will bring together the continent’s young talents and serve as a testing ground for future international competitions.

In a statement, Mr. Yusuf Duaij, head of the Executive Committee, expressed his pride that: "This number reflects the efforts of the Organizing Committee, with a total of more than 5,000 participants, including officials, administrators, technical staff, media personnel and medical teams, representing 45 National Olympic Committees, the Olympic Council of Asia and many other Asian sports federations."

Four main centres have been established to issue entry passes to the Games: The Art Hotel & Resort, Exhibition World Bahrain, Gulf Hotel and Isa Sports City.

Preparations for the competition are underway, with the aim of introducing innovation in many aspects. For the first time in the history of the Asian Youth Games, the Opening Ceremony will be held indoors at the Bahrain Exhibition Centre. Some of the competitions will start before the official opening ceremony: men's futsal, handball and volleyball on 19 October, women's futsal, kabaddi, teqball and beach volleyball on 21 October.

On the sporting front, the event is of great significance, as the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain will serve as a qualifying event for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
