Honda Vietnam donates 1.8 million helmets to first graders nationwide for the 2025-2026 school year

On October 3, Honda Vietnam Company (HVN) in collaboration with the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) and the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) officially launched the program "Giving helmets to first graders nationwide for the 2025-2026 school year" with the theme "Wearing beautiful helmets to protect us".

As part of a series of activities accompanying the Government towards the goal of "ZERO deaths due to road traffic accidents" by 2045 and Honda's global vision to 2050, this year HVN will donate 1.8 million standard helmets to first graders nationwide, of which Phu Tho province has over 50,000 students. At the same time, the Company will organize traffic safety training for students and parents.

The program was launched in 2018 and has so far given nearly 12 million helmets to first graders. According to statistics, the helmet wearing rate among children has increased sharply from 37% (in 2018) to 85% (in the 2024-2025 school year).

The first launching ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year was held at Van Bao Primary School (Hanoi) with the participation of leaders of the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training , the Ministry of Public Security and senior leaders of Honda Motor Corporation Japan, Honda Motor Asia and the Board of Directors of Honda Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Toshihiro Mibe - Director, President and CEO of Honda Motor Company Japan emphasized: "We believe that donating helmets is not only a practical action to protect the safety of students, but also contributes to forming the habit of wearing standard helmets for future generations. This is an important foundation for building a culture of safe traffic in Vietnam."

Within the framework of the program, the parties agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the following commitments: 100% of first graders nationwide will be given standard helmets. Strengthen training activities, share knowledge and skills on safe traffic participation for students and parents.

HVN hopes that through the program, in the 2025-2026 school year, more than 1.8 million students and 350,000 parents will be equipped with knowledge and skills to participate in safe traffic, contributing to reducing accident risks and gradually realizing the national goal of traffic safety.
