Thuong Tin district has not yet fully exploited its tourism potential.

(HNMO) - On the afternoon of June 19, the Culture - Social Committee of the Hanoi People's Council worked with the People's Committee of Thuong Tin district on the results of implementing policies and laws on tourism development in the district.

The City People's Council's Culture and Social Committee surveyed tourist attractions in Thuong Tin district.

Thuong Tin district has great potential to develop spiritual tourism associated with craft village and ecological tourism. Recently, the district People's Committee has issued many directive documents on promoting tourism development; at the same time, directed agencies, units, communes and towns to regularly post documents to popularize the Law on Tourism, legal policies related to tourism and introduce the potential and strengths of tourism development of the district.

Currently, the district has been recognized by the Hanoi People's Committee as 4 tourist destinations: Hong Van ornamental plant craft village tourist destination, Ha Thai lacquer craft village tourist destination, Thuy Ung horn comb craft village tourist destination, and Van Diem high-class carpentry village tourist destination.

However, the implementation of tourism development projects and investment in restoration of relics in Thuong Tin district is still slow; human resources of establishments participating in tourism services develop spontaneously, there are no professional travel businesses, tourism infrastructure, especially in craft villages, has not been invested due to lack of capital, accommodation facilities are still lacking and not synchronized... Tourism products are still monotonous, there is no center to introduce craft village products.

From the above-mentioned shortcomings, the People's Committee of Thuong Tin district proposed that the Hanoi Department of Tourism support the promotion work, invite travel businesses to design tours; organize forums on experience in tourism management and development; and regularly train on topics of state management of tourism for officials working in tourism.

In addition, the district also proposed that the City People's Committee support and invest funds to build facilities and traffic infrastructure to serve tourism development in the area.

The City People's Council's Culture and Social Committee worked with the People's Committee of Thuong Tin district.

Concluding the working session, Head of the Culture - Social Committee of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Thanh Binh said that although the district has potential, even many outstanding potentials worthy of tourism development, the district has not yet fully exploited and effectively exploited the tourism development orientation with outstanding potential.

The monitoring team suggested that the district focus on reviewing the planning, clearly identifying major planning contents, large land areas for tourism development such as entertainment areas, craft villages. In addition, pay attention to planning at each current location to base on that orientation on infrastructure, parking lots... to serve tourism development.

"It is necessary to clearly reposition the district's tourism products in the coming time, determine the development of ecological or spiritual products, and craft villages to focus resources and have development mechanisms and policies," comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh noted.
