Israel sends reserve brigade to northern border

According to a VNA reporter in Israel, after many days of increasing airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, the Israeli army is mobilizing two more reserve brigades to the northern border to deploy combat operations.

On the same day, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Avichay Adraee announced that the IDF could conduct more attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon on a larger scale than those previously carried out.

The Israeli military said the move would allow the fight to continue to repel Hezbollah and allow northern Israelis to return home. In the new statement, Mr. Adraee also stressed that it was time to add another goal to the war - ensuring Israelis return home safely.

Earlier, speaking while inspecting a brigade-level exercise in the northern border area of ​​Israel on September 25, Major General Ori Gordin, head of the Israeli army's Northern Command, also mentioned that the country had entered a new phase of the campaign and had to prepare for "mobilization and action". Although he did not give specific details of the action mentioned, Mr. Ori Gordin emphasized that the campaign began with a strong blow to Hezbollah, focusing on the organization's firepower, commanders and members.

Also on September 25, the Israeli military announced that it had attacked 60 Hezbollah intelligence targets. The airstrikes destroyed intelligence-gathering tools, command centers, and additional infrastructure used by the enemy to build intelligence assessments.

The Israeli moves came after Hezbollah said earlier in the day that it had launched a ballistic missile at the headquarters of Israel's intelligence agency (Mossad) near Tel Aviv. John Kirby, the White House National Security Council's coordinator for strategic communications, said on September 25 that the US was extremely concerned about the Hezbollah rocket attack on the Israeli intelligence agency, but still believed that a diplomatic solution could ease tensions on the Lebanon-Israel border.

Also related to the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah forces in Lebanon, the Islamic Resistance Movement - a Shi'ite militia group in Iraq - also said it had carried out a series of drone and missile attacks on Israeli targets, including a military site and fired an upgraded al-Arqab cruise missile at a key location in the north of the "occupied Palestinian territories". In addition, the group carried out two more UAV attacks that morning, including an attack on a location in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights and another attack on an Israeli location near the Jordan Valley.

Since the Hamas-Israel conflict in Gaza broke out on October 7, 2023, the Islamic resistance movement in Iraq has carried out numerous attacks on Israeli and US targets in the region in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
