Born and raised in a Dao family, Hoang Huu Dinh learned the sound of the bamboo flute by heart from his childhood. Growing up with the sound of the flute, he absorbed every melody and every "breath" of his people's culture.
“For the Dao people in white pants, the bamboo flute is not only a musical instrument, but also a companion from birth to the time of returning to the ancestors. In ceremonies of coming of age, weddings, praying for crops or village festivals..., the sound of the flute is always present like a sacred thread connecting people with the community, with heaven and earth” - Mr. Dinh shared.
In the constant flow of time, when many traditional values are gradually being forgotten, it has become a great concern for a person with a heavy heart for national culture like Mr. Dinh.
Not only does he keep his passion for the bamboo flute to himself, he also devotes all his heart to preserving and spreading the art of the bamboo flute to the community.
For many years, artisan Hoang Huu Dinh has been diligently opening free classes to teach flute playing right at home. He has meticulously taught every breath, how to tune the bamboo tube, and how to feel the rhythm to the villagers, especially the young generation.
Mr. Dinh confided: Teaching someone to play the flute is difficult, teaching them to love the sound of the flute is even more difficult. However, he never gave up. Thanks to his perseverance, more and more children in the village came to learn. At first, it was curiosity, then love and passion. Now, the deep and high sounds from the bamboo flute not only resonate from his hands, but also from the next generations - as the way culture lives forever in the nation's veins.

Hoang Thanh Thuy excitedly shared: At first, I found it very difficult, but thanks to Mr. Dinh's dedicated teaching, I can now play a few tunes. Listening to him tell stories through the sound of the panpipe, I love my ethnic culture even more.
In 2022, Mr. Hoang Huu Dinh was honored to be awarded the title of “Meritorious Artisan” by the State - a worthy reward for his persistent efforts in preserving the traditional cultural values of the Dao people. However, for him, the title is just a milestone, the most important thing is that the sound of the panpipe still resonates in the village and is continued by the next generation.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Ha - Deputy Head of the Department of Culture - Society of Yen Thanh commune assessed: Meritorious Artisan Hoang Huu Dinh is a shining example in the work of preserving and promoting the local ethnic culture. He is always enthusiastic in teaching the children in the village and commune, helping them not only to play the flute but also to deeply understand the cultural values of their ethnic group. At the same time, he also opened classes to teach reading and writing Nom Dao script and to preserve the cultural values of the Dao ethnic group in general. The local government always coordinates with him to organize these classes, contributing to maintaining and promoting the national identity in the current context of integration.

Amidst the modern pace of life, the perseverance and dedication of Meritorious Artisan Hoang Huu Dinh is like a precious slow beat, awakening the community to remember its cultural roots and values that cannot be forgotten. Thanks to him - the "wordless storyteller" through the sound of bamboo flutes, the culture of the Dao people in white pants is still preserved, continued and spread through each generation.
